“They need a better class of elve”

Now that’s the oxymoron of the week.

  2. Rover says:

I could do with a couple of grown jewles right now.

Never mind. Guess I’ll have to get over this blasted cold first.

  3. Mary Anne says:

    PATHETIC!

  4. ciccio says:

I unequivocally deny that the Minister has sold my grown jewles to the private sector, although I am in a position to confirm that they have always been privately held.

  5. La Redoute says:

Team zghazugh, eh? Maybe there’s something wrong with my eyesight, but I didn’t see any zghazugh on the panel at the elve HQ press conference on ONE this afternoon.

The one in the middle doesn’t even count as middle-aged.

  6. Toyger says:

I did a little math exercise to see how much I would actually be saving if the PL proposal goes through. I took my last utilities bill that was an actual meter reading bill and covered 6 months, including the summer months, and for both electricity and water, i first reduced the service charge (kiri tal-meter, ghal min ma jafx xi tfisser, ghax dik hemm se tibqa) to get the actual consumption cost.

What I got is the following:
electricity consumtpion for 6 months now: E 180.70
    (25%) –> E 45.20, therefore in a year I’d save E90.40

    Water: 6 month consumption now: E 48.51
    (5%) –> E 2.43, therefore in a year I’d save E 4.86

Therefore in a year I’d save technically E 95.26, which means E7.90 per month, or E 0.26 per day.

Is THIS the reduction in utilities they’re so proud of?

    • marie says:

Exactly! 1-2 euro daily for running water and electricity is not that much of a high cost.

It is unbearably expensive only for those with wrong priorities.

    • V.Vellla says:

I’ve already lost an extra 300 euros in children’ s allowance thanks to the budget which was not voted through. That’s more than 3 times the savings on utilities bills.

      • Mercury Rising says:

My thoughts exactly, besides other savings introduced in the last budget.

However Toyger has set me thinking, did PL commit itself not to increase the service charge?

On a different note, the easiest way to bypass EU regulations on tendering procedures is to not to be a part of the EU. Perhaps now that the leading PL MEPs have had their pie in Brussels and returned fully loaded, it’s time to move on. It is getting scarier by the second.

  7. Manuel says:

Team zaghzugh? Debono Grech, Karmenu Vella, Gorg Vella, Alex Sciberras Trigona, Joe Brincat, Evarist Bartolo, Herr Flick, Toni Abela, Wenzu Mintoff? Kollha zghazagh dawn. U halluna.

  8. FP says:

Surely you’ve got the wrong pic.

Mr Micallef is speaking of his GROWN “jewles”.

  9. Joseph Borg says:

So the PL is going to copy the PN they are going to do away with EneMalta . This proves that the PN was correct about the dockyard.

  10. Amanda Mallia says:

Paul Micallef should be thankful that ‘our crown jewels’ were SOLD to the private sector.

In Mintoff’s time, it was private enterprise that was TAKEN FORCEFULLY by the government. (I know I ‘sound’ like Emy Bezzina with the capital letters, but they are sometimes needed for emphasis.)

Maybe he needs to read up on the history of Bank of Valletta, Mid Med Bank and Air Malta to know what their origins were.

  11. billy goat says:

They can’t even write the only language they can speak.

  12. Harry Purdie says:

THAT was hilarious. My jewles are ‘groaning’ with mirth.

  13. Natalie Mallett says:

Mhux ahjar titghallem tikteb l-ewwel? Possibli l-anqas crown jewels ma kellek il-hila tikkopja?

  14. ninnu says:

Team zghazugh: Karmenu Vella, Alex Sceberras Trigona, Joe Debono Grech, Louis Grech, Toni Abela, Evarist Bartolo, Edward Scicluna, George Vella….

  15. LE to LEjber says:

Grown jewels… I really hope his groin jewels are covered well.

  16. denis says:

With people like these running the country, we’re in for a “Zimbabwe”.

  17. old-timer says:

The tragedy is that that the GROWN jewles chap has a vote.
