In talking about a cancer factory, Joseph and Labour have factored out the EU. Yet again.

Labour are also having a field day with their HFO claims about its health detriments and what a bad choice it was.

They’ve gone as far as to call it a ‘cancer factory’, yet nobody bothers to counter this with the fact that the new extension meets the Air Quality Standards directive 50/2008 of the European Union.

Moreover, the harmful nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and dust particles are being captured and stored in silos to be disposed of in a controlled manner.

Why aren’t the PN screaming about this?

Minister Fenech mentioned this last night, when taken to task (weakly) by that awful One hack (tries to be cutting and clever – comes across as thick and full of himself), but you’re right – it should be shoved down their throats at every given opportunity.

Maybe JM never dared to check the maximum emission limits set out by the EU before opening his mouth and also that emissions can be viewed online at http://www.enemalta.com.mt/ , ‘Green&Clean’, ‘Emissions’ (on the right side), ‘Emission Reports’, ‘Continuous Monitoring’ (on the right side), then select say Delimara, etc. For those without a computer/ internet can go to M’Xlokk or B’Buga local councils where Enemalta had installed computers that can show emissions (see link http://www.enemalta.com.mt/index.aspx?cat=1&art=156&art1=161 under heading ‘Monitoring Stations for Local Councils’). Can it be more transperent?

I hope the Nationalists have some ace up their sleeve because quite frankly they appear to have a severe lack of energy this time round.

The MLP is making me fume. What a bunch of incompetents.

On the other hand, I am very, very disappointed with my beloved PN – sorry to say imma qisna reqdin, minghajr energija.

The election result is gonna be humiliating. We’re gonna be governed by a bunch of incompetents in less than two months. God help us.

It might be of interest to note that most vessels docking at the Freeport and Oil Tanking terminals, very close to the Delimara power station, use Heavy Fuel Oil and Low Sulphur Fuel Oil to operate their propulsion machinery.

Maritime legislation only allows the use of Low Sulphur Fuel Oil in special designated areas such as the Mediterranean Basin as the percentage levels of NOx and SOx emissions through the combustion of this fuel are considered as not damaging to the environment surrounding those same vessels, and the health and well-being of the crew of same.

One should now consider that the Delimara power station uses fuel which has an even lower percentage sulphur content than Low Sulphur Fuel Oil, and the emissions resulting thereof are being filtered.

In my mind this makes the whole argument of the power station emissions as being the cause of an abnormal concentration of lung cancers in the surrounding area, as even more baseless.

Has anyone been to the cinema lately?

Can we have someone provide us with the 15 minute advert by Labour, at which everyone booed?

About the HFO cancer and asthma factory, more to the point is the fact that this plant has been operating for only the past few days.

And unless my understanding of sequence of events is all screwed up, no WHO, OWH, or HOW report can possibly refer to the new plant.

    Imma basta nagħmlu d-dortudor.

And the Labour message is that the large concentration of cancer and asthma cases in the sawt (already a lie in itself) is due to the HFO plant.

Labour’s mantra: to make a lie credible, add an even bigger lie to the mix.

Labour candidate Chris Fearne’s qualities as a supposedly discerning medical professional have come to the fore in this morning’s TVAM.

When faced by data from scientific research, even people like Chris Fearne try to suppress it and override it with their own “observations”.
