So much for the jokes about alarm clocks – I bet Michelle’s been using a washing-machine timer for yonks

From a parliamentary report in The Times, 11 November 2008:

Dr Muscat proposed the introduction of a cheaper night rate for electricity in a bid to equalise demand throughout the day since this increased power station efficiency and reduced waste.

With such a rate, families would be encouraged to use certain appliances on timer during the night instead of during the day. The same system could be introduced at least for part of industry and for businesses.

Similarly, the Water Services Corporation should start operating at night those reverse osmosis plants which were not in residential areas. Water production used a lot of energy and such a measure would increase efficiency at the power stations.

Get a move on, Michelle. We've left the washing-machine alone and God only knows what it's been up to.

Chectuti was on ONE, sitting opposite Musumeci discussing economics and development. Nice.

The contradictions this guy makes are unbelievable! How many have been highlighted so far?

On a more serious note, what the hell is she wearing?

Good God.. is that a Burberry check tie?

Whilst we’re on this subject creases in skirts around tummy, thighs and posterior are also a no-no.

No one is interested in how skinny one thinks one is or would wish to become. The unwritten code goes one size bigger.

Check out the rule for open-toe sandals on duty whilst you’re at it.

I imagine Joseph will get people sent to the Marion Mizzi type club for reassessment and refitting. Then the “We’re in” wanabee Union club will be charged with reformatting any further creases out with some unpolished rudimentary template updates.

No surprise re Malta Today really. Labour have kept the language key to basic knowledge, and thus extended logical reasoning and codes such as this, away from their supporters for decades. It was the next step once everything else was in place.

What’s the proportion of Labour supporters now present within The Times’ ranks?

I hope that there are some independent watchdogs observing this election, the fabric being woven before us and where it’s going. Far too rapidly.

Funny that he was more correct back then than Lawrence Gonzi was recently regarding the reasoning behind night rates.

“The same system could be introduced at least for part of industry and for businesses.”

That has already been the case for several years, not sure though whether before or after JM made this statement.

As far as I know (though I might be wrong) reverse osmosis plant operate 24/7.

One could operate them only during the night but it would need a doubling or tripling of the production capacity because they would need to produce in eight hours what they normally produce over a span of 24 hours and spend the remaining 16 hours idle.
