   Austin Gatt said that company Totsa was previously named Total. Would you know the date of change of name? Reference in the email is made to Totsa (rather than Total) way back in 2004.

     The proper name is “Totsa Total Oil Trading s.a.” (s.a.= société anonyme = plc). It’s been known by that name since 1985.

     “À la suite des rapprochements avec la belge Petrofina et la Française Elf Aquitaine, la société est devenue Total Fina SA le 14 juin 1999, puis Total Fina Elf SA le 22 mars 2000. L’entreprise a repris la dénomination Total SA le 6 mai 2003.”

       No. That’s Total (the parent company, if you like). Totsa Total Sa was registered under this name in the commercial register on 17th April 1984.

   TOTSA is Total Oil Trading SA. They are part of the Total SA group which is one of the biggest oil companies on the planet. TOTSA is the Total oil trading business and not the name of the Total company per se.
