That the fight took place in a Labour club is an unimportant detail for the police

Well, if Keith Schembri runs out of campaign money, we can always cut up a few white bars in the club kitchens and raise some funds that way.

Jaqaw Toni Abela rega sab xi pulizija Laburist?

Well, this was one Labour Party club crime Joseph and Toni couldn’t cover up, not with the A & E department at the general hospital involved and the police called to the scene of the crime and unable to avoid issuing a statement.

Though they did their best and left out where the crime occurred, the press were bound to find out.

The Times left out this ‘unimportant’ detail of police concealment.

From The Malta Independent’s online edition:

Man critical after fight at PL club in Rabat

A man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital on Sunday night after he was injured during a fight at the Rabat Labour Party. The police this afternoon reported that he is in critical condition.

The fight started at around 9.30pm at the Labour Party Club in St Paul Street and continued outside in the street.

The fight involved four people who were having a drink at the bar.

Mobile, district and plain clothes policemen were on the site and the road was closed for some time.

In its report to the media – which was released at 1pm today, more than 12 hours after the incident took place – the police said that at 9.30pm the assistance of the police was required in St Paul Street, Rabat after an argument had developed.

On site, the police found three persons, one aged 49 of Santa Venera, and another of 52 from Msida, and a 41 year-old-woman of Cospicua, who had suffered injuries and were bleeding.

A 37-year-old, resident of Mara, was found on the ground, the police said.

The 37-year-old was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. The man was reported to be in danger of dying.

The police did not make any reference to the Labour Party club in its statement.

Magistrate Audrey Depasquale appointed several experts to help in the inquiry.

Back to the future – 1980s police are back.

  3. TinaB says:

The barman is trying to make us believe that the fight took place outside the club.

Maltarightnow said early this morning that one of the men is critical, while all other media were still saying that he is stable.

Toni’s attempt to keep the mishaps in the Malta Labour Party clubs away from the media is backfiring.

Time to go, Ton, before you are “politically assassinated” by your “best friend.”

  7. Jozef says:

Michelle and Keith’s wife could take over all Labour clubs turning them into Si Mangia outlets.

They managed at GWU headquarters, why not everywhere else?

  8. Joe says:

Keith Schembri’s Kasco installed the web offset system at Progress Press’s new building in Mriehel. Who knows – maybe if the Labour Party burns it down again he will get to install another system.

  9. ciccio says:

Considering what The Malta Independent is reporting about details not being included in the report, a more thorough inquiry is necessary.

I believe the police should investigate all the way into the club building, including the kitchen and the rubbish bins.

  10. Jozef says:

Kasco has a weird mix of companies, target sectors are more than saturated and no client portfolio or related partners.

    Very slick website though.

Let us hope that Toni Abela hadn’t “got at” some poor Labour-leaning police constable in charge of drafting the police statement o.b.o. the Commissioner of Police.

That club is synonymous with punters playing cards. Maybe it got a bit out of hand.

  13. P Shaw says:

Joseph Muscat and Michelle were often seen at Keith Schembri’s villa in Santa Maria Estate in Mellieha. He is a regular invitee for Keith Schembri’s BBQs and parties.

[Daphne – Sounds lovely. I feel so OUT.]
