I bet Joseph Muscat and his fourth-floor schemers knew about Joe Cordina’s involvement

Published: February 21, 2013 at 10:55pm

I think we have found the reason why the Labour Party and its hysterical Super One machine went nuts when George Farrugia was allowed to turn state’s evidence as long as he told all.

They’ve been trying to attack and undermine that pardon since day one, and we wondered why because it should have been a good thing for them, right? George Farrugia spilling the beans and all that.

But they must have known what beans he had for spilling, and understood that it was only a matter of days before they were hoist by their own petard.

No wonder the Poison Dwarf was green and haggard tonight.

Yeah well, are two weeks enough to get the trial going and the headlines rolling? Because at this point it’s all down to timing.

    • Harry Purdie says:

Yep, timing is an issue. However, even if elected, they will be at each other’s throats within weeks.

Between their incompetence, criminality, greed and stupidity, their ‘reign’ will be short.lived and deemed ‘The Great Fuckup’.

      • Jozef says:

They haven’t settled matters for sure.
        They’ll take it to government.
Then it will be TAGHNA LKOLL.

  2. stephen says:

Lou Bondi is a very fair journalist. For all the criticism he receives from the Labour Party, he’s often more lenient towards the LP’s constant interruptions during his programmes.

  3. Village says:

    Joseph should resign.

  4. maryanne says:

I may be missing something, Will somebody please explain this to me.

The police have been investigating Aikon Ltd. Isn’t it logicial that they should have also sent for the three persons involved in InterShore Fiduciary Services Ltd?

This is not a superficial investigation but a thorough one. Why did they have to wait for Tonio Fenech to send them the MFSA documents?

  5. caflisa says:

Who’s chanting ‘shame on you’ now?

    • Yanika says:

So the fourth floor is fictitious and a metaphor? Sorry but all this ‘fourth floor’ business had me confused, and I couldn’t understand why everyone was referring to this floor with so much foreboding. Clarification is welcome! Thanks!

[Daphne – No, it’s the actual fourth floor of Labour HQ, which is the campaign control room, so to speak.]

  6. TROY says:

I think the document shredder on the MLP’s fourth floor is working non-stop.

    • Jozef says:

      That’s what I’m thinking.

At this point any investigation cannot ignore the role the Labour Party had in all this.

Nor can one ignore how Labour stepped up its efforts to bring down this government in the most gratuitious of manners since 2011.

How does a party propose to vote against a budget, to pledge its implementation?

How is a deputy leader kicked out as soon as elections were called? Now that Tony wasn’t, the fib couldn’t be more evident.

Labour simply cannot afford to lose. What’s certain is that Labour doesn’t look capable of surviving another defeat.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

Exactly. This election is Labour’s Berlin, 1945. Something changed in the body politic in the years following 2008. Do you remember that election? By today’s standards, it was extremely restrained, theatrical almost. This one’s hand-to-hand bloody savagery.

Sant survived defeat after defeat because the hyping up was kept in check, and he was emotionally detached. With Joseph Muscat, it’s different. Winning is his very raison d’être. He is The Saviour. If he loses, he loses every shred of credibility.

      • Harry Purdie says:

Credibilty? Baxxter, have you been drinking my Christmas gift of Laphroaig without my presence?

  7. Catsrbest says:

It seems to me that they are throwing the mud with a boomerang.

  8. Simone says:

Zejt u kowk! Zejt u kowk! Zejt u kowk!
(To the tune of ‘taghna l-koll’.)

  9. Jozef says:

Three days ago I asked why Evarist is so pissed off, how the impression given is that perhaps he could have been privy to these commissions until recently.

Indeed, did Evarist proceed as soon as Cordina was out?

  10. Me says:

    What’s your email, Daph?

    Tnx

    [Daphne – dcg@proximuspr.com]

  11. Giraffa says:

I almost (note – almost) felt sorry for coconut Kurt.

His coloring was frightening and the body language of the three party reps was enough to confirm the wary and uncomfortable situation Labour is in.

You may rest assured that Manuel Mallia will be spending the night scheming as to how to divert the fall-out, and prevent the floor from falling from beneath the PL.

[Daphne – Manuel Mallia is a trial lawyer from another era. He is worthless in these situations. Nobody is impressed by that sort of wordy bombast anymore. Nobody who matters to Labour, that is.]

    • ciccio says:

I just couldn’t put my finger on whether it was that Kurt is so vertically challenged or whether he was trying his best to slide underneath the conference desk.

    • Labour's justice says:

Manwel Mallia has probably transferred his bedroom to the Fourth Floor at Mile End.

The Malta Labour Party is keeping him very busy with all these accusations from all directions.

  12. nutmeg says:

The disgruntled are going to have a lot more to grunt about over the next five years.

  13. pwg says:

And with Franco Debono also roped in, l can’t understand what Labour is complaining about.

  14. Election Mode says:

Back to the igloo, has anyone else noticed that most men who attended the meeting this evening have their eyebrows waxed?

I suppose this is the latest trend if you want to be a cool dude, while the women invest in breast and lip implants. Labourlicious.

  16. Pavia says:

Joseph Muscat is IN ………deep shit

  17. bookworm says:

Massive corruption while still on the Opposition benches, imagine what they’ll get up to when they’re in government.

    • Jozef says:

Is it just massive corruption? We’ve seen some really nasty stuff these past four years.

Toni Abela was miffed at a general situation, otherwise, he wouldn’t have vented in that manner. His was an admission to having been drawn into something beyond him.

    • bookworm (the authentic) says:

The focus should really be whether Joe Cordina, as a director of the said company, and as a money laundering reporting officer, has done his duty in reporting any suspected transactions to the FIAU.

  18. ken il malti says:

Joseph Muscat just got rid of Joe Cordina according to the Times of Malta.

But that is not the end of it.

Now here is what I would like to know; is Joe Cordina ever going to introduce those posh round pastizzi to Xaghra Gozo?

  19. P Shaw says:

If the fourth floor is reserved for scheming and negotiating deals with contractors, which floor of the MLP headquarters is reserved for recycling? The penthouse might suit that purpose.

  20. old-timer says:

So now we have another clue as to where the money for the Labour election campaign is coming from. Perhaps Cordina can elaborate

  21. VICTOR says:

Anglu Farruggia must be giving thanks to God for pulling him up from his hair from this messy situation PL is in .

    Count your blessings ANGLU
