And I’ll bet she doesn’t say ‘Okej orrajt helo tajbin kif intom okej.’

Michelle ta' Gonzi

Speaking of which, I went to the meeting in Naxxar this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to discover how many thousands of people would much rather be out than in, and how many haven’t switched.

We need some T-shirts, though: I’M OUT NOT IN. And LE HI TA JIEN MINIEX SWITCHER OKEJ ORRAJT HELO

Heard her speaking during some reception. So bloody fake – I just can’t picture her as wife to the prime minister.

    • Eddy Privitera says:

Daphne: Did you believe Lawrence Gonzi when he said the the PN will be celebrating on March 10 ??? Be honest !In my view he was trying to dupe his own supporters, including you since you were present ! Did he manage to fool you ?

      • Martin says:

        It-tigrija sal-barkun, Eddy.

      • maria says:

Lawrence Gonzi does not fool anyone, Mr. Privitera. We leave that to your darling Joseph, who knows how to dupe his followers.

      • Custom Built says:

Eddy hope you are fine enjoying your pension. Just remember that in countries led by the socialists the first austerity measures introduced reduced pensions. Enjoy your day.

      • Joe Farrugia says:

Ma titghallem qatt Eddie, you can lie only when talking about the past or about a false future intention. Saying that you will win can be a wish and a hope but never a lie, unless the event is stage managed and you are sure of a win.

      • Jozef says:

Privitera, Gonzi qal li JEMMEN bis-shih li int tista tispicca b’ugiegh ta’ zaqq.

    • verita says:

Listess kont tghid int fit 2008 Privitera . Ibqa spera

  2. Delta says:

How about an ‘Out and Proud’ t-shirt? I’d definitely wear that

  3. Futur Imcajpar says:

I found it both heart-warming but also rather sad for what’s to come.

But I needed to be with masses of like-minded people, because I seem to be surrounded by boisterous Labourites and very subdued and quiet Nationalists most of the time.

    • francesco says:

I agree, we are already feeling intimidated.

    • Innit says:

Boisterous? Don’t you mean foul and loud-mouthed?

    • caflisa says:

same here… the South… talk about living in an absolute minority in your own street.

    • Eddy Privitera says:

Futur Imcajpar: I understand that Dr. Gonzi has not managed to fool you into believing that GonziPN will be celebrating on March 10 !

      • Grezz says:

Ah, but you, Mr Privitera, think that Labour can silence Daphne come the 10th of March and yet, here you are, no thanks to Labour and their skewed up attitude, popping in and out freely to attack your blog host and others.

    • Harry Purdie says:

Agree. Always liked Teddy Roosevelt’s comment, ‘Speak softly and carry a big stick.’

    • MxC says:

“because I seem to be surrounded by boisterous Labourites ”

      Like they say,

“empty vessels make the most noise”

and Labour are a clear case in point.

  4. grace says:

” I’m Out” or “Out and Proud” could have a different meaning. Just like “I’m In” has a different meaning.

  5. sokrate says:

O, sweet Michelle (no reference to Obama’s wife)…next week or maybe the one after could be very surprising for you, much depending on Jason’s mood or the nationalists’ ability to keep us updated with some ‘jasony’ revelation.

Josef wrote his own death sentence when he failed to be a truly honourable politician and submit his resignation for what he knew and kept away from us: drug abuse case in Hal Safi!

I do NOT trust him! And so many others…we’ll know their number on 10 March!

  6. Min Weber says:

    These are all idiots.

    Read this:

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20130224/local/Architects-forget-to-include-bulbs-in-ebbu-road-tender.458989

They forgot to include the bulbs!!

And these people want to manage Malta (Taghna Lkoll) in a fortnight’s time. Yes, fortNIGHT … without bulbs …

Maaaaaaaa, hames snin ta’ dlam … (read with Floren’s accent) ….

    • Jozef says:

That’s a major blunder, given that contracts for light fittings are usually defined by whether bulbs are to be included or not.

A bit like whether it’s supply only or including installation.

      Biex tara.

Il-ministru tax-xoghlijiet, u iva, mbilli tkaxkar il-karozza niezel Triq Melita?

  7. matt says:

What a riveting speech. Gonzi was so uplifting. I think today, for the first time in this campaign, Gonzi feels that a PN victory is his for the taking. A well deserved break.

Muscat really blundered today, big time, on the Times of Malta video.

How in this day of age can we can have a Prime Minister who conspired with the deputy leader to hide from the police about drugs being stored in the MLP club. Both Muscat and Abela must resign today.

  8. matt says:

My prediction for tonight- Toni will resign tonight. He must feel the pressure now.
Muscat will call Scicluna for his replacement.

  9. zizka says:

Ahna t’ AUS(tin) OUT and PROUD.

  10. Jien Jien Jien says:

    As Telecell used to say:

    “BE IN WHEN YOU’RE OUT”.

  11. Marco Vella says:

Both Joseph Muscat and his wife are fake and love being seen. They are in this for themselves. Mrs Muscat’s comments to her children are telling: “The country needs one boss.”

  12. Kevin Zammit says:

From Maltastar: Tonio Fenech debunked:’Aikon’ not ‘Aikon Ltd’

Are they spreading nonsense here or is there a real argument behind this?

    I am confused.

  13. bob-a-job says:

Speaking of t-shirts – Cyrus is organizing the purchase of t-shirts ghar-rebha.

His should read ‘I’m IN – decent’

  14. ciccio says:

“Will the last one OUT please switch off the lights?”

  15. Kevin Zammit says:

And that news I just mentioned is nowhere to be seen on the Maltatoday portal?

  16. anthony says:

The PN is a great party with an illustrious history both in government and in opposition.

It will undoubtedly lose the forthcoming general elections but with its head held high.

    This is inevitable.

The people can afford to gamble their vote sure in the knowledge that they can always fall back on the PN and rely on it to rebuild a devastated country.

    • kram says:

I agree with you about the PN’s history but our country is not disposable. You cannot just throw it away and buy another one once broken because it will take years and lot of your and my money to rebuild it.

  17. francesco says:

I agree, we are already feeling intimidated

  18. Jien Jien Jien says:

Just been zapping the Maltese TV stations during prime time: NETtv please wake up!

Whilst ONE is showing today’s mass meeting for all those who did not attend, so that they listen to ‘il-mexxej’, NET is showing a teleserial which reminds me of the 70s and 80s: there are Eileen Montesin, and her partner, and her daughter, as well as Mary Spiteri at the moment.

OMG. Wake up guys. Only two weeks left. Just tell us and especially those who are undecided why we should not touch Labour with a barge pole.

  19. Once bitten says:

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20130224/local/Mallia-put-PBO-in-prison.458984

I wondered why Manuel Mallia felt at home with Labour. Now I know.

    • Tabatha White says:

Manwel Mallia’s name has long been tarnished. It wasn’t waiting for Paul Borg Olivier to have proof in hand and say something about it.

  20. RosanneB says:

I was there as well.. and that t-shirt caught my eye as well.

  21. Makjavel says:

Was Toni Abela anywhere near Mqabba, or was he at Hal Safi hunting for white powder?

  22. Matthew says:

In two years’ time, this is going to be the nation’s song. Substitute Herbert Hoover with Joseph Muscat and it fits perfectly, down to the promise of a blue heaven.

  23. Gahan says:

I felt that Gonzi is working for the ungrateful when those students at MCAST shouted SHAME ON YOU in a college which is being built on his initiative with funds which he worked for.

I felt we failed as a Maltese citizens when everybody knows that creating a good educational environment means also teaching students how to be civilized and let others express their views and opinions.

Civilized people don’t behave like that. They let you present your views without interrupting, then they convey their disapproval with counter arguments.

Seeing those young people in the Naxxar mass meeting gave me a lot of hope and consolation that things are not that bad as we saw on TV.

  24. fm says:

I was there too – proud to be out.

Muscat only mentions switchers to Labour, but does not say anything about those who switched to PN.

    Only the result will tell.

  25. TinaB says:

I have noticed that there is a lot more enthusiasm now than there was at the start of the PN electoral campaign, too.

  26. giraffa says:

Muscat said today that if Toni Abela submits his resignation, he will accept it.

Excuse me, but isn’t that another way of asking Toni to resign? But will he do it?

I doubt it; what would losing both deputy leaders do the PL’s ego, and, more important, to the general perception of the still-undecided?

  27. Macduff says:

What was sorely missing in this campaign is the Nationalist biting wit that that makes Labourites epileptic with anger.

Maybe that’s symptomatic of how the Party lost the will to fight. Pity.

    • Gahan says:

When the Joe Cordina case came out , you could see the change of attitude of Labour supporters.

All the smiles disappeared and all the brotherly love they tried to show before evaporated.

Laburisti are really epileptic with anger about this case.

      • ciccio says:

They had better be angry now, than after the elections. They will be IN for big disappointments under a Labour government.

  28. Augustus says:

There are switchers from both sides. The difference is that, the blue switchers can do it in the open since they know that nothing will happen to them, while the red ones do it on the quiet because of the danger that might happen to them.

The drugs story cost the PL a lot of damage.

  29. Joseph says:

Kemm ha jkolli nixtri lumi fl-10 ta marzu…..imma kuntent ghax hafna minnkom ha jkollkom tigdmu lsienkom wara t-tkaxkira li gejja. U ghal min qal li ra lil Gonzi sod fuq dwar ir-rebha….nahseb ghandu bzonn nuccali ghax id diskors tieghu kien kollu frott tal-biza li ha jsoffri l-ikbar telfa elettorali mill-indipendenza sal lum

  30. old-timer says:

Privitera, if you listened CAREFULLY to Gonzi’s speech, he left he said that on the 9th of March, we and no one else will decide who will govern. He then gave a few reasons why WE should vote for the PN. I do not think that he said anything about celebrating – but then he could have when I went for a cup of tea in the kitchen. But cheer up,mate, things are beginning to look better – much better for those who really want Malta to progress.

  31. old-timer says:

One more hint for Privitera: Let’s hope ( he and I (or is it me?) will be able to get our pensions untouched after March 9 – considering the hopelessness of the situation in our neighbouring countries – let’s sincerely hope, Eddy.

  32. Candida says:

What’s more Gahan, I had relatives in the UK phoning me up and asking me what was all that about when they (students) are getting such a good education – free, a state of the art MCAST with all modern equipment and technological apparatus, plus stipends.

    • Gahan says:

I have a friend at work who is a ‘cold’ Labour supporter, who just keeps his family tradition by voting Labour.

He told me that he felt for Gonzi (thassartu) when the Labour young student mob shouted repeatedly “Shame on you” as he spoke about the new campus which my friend is seeing gradually take shape each time he passes by to and from work.
