Next question for the dead-in-the-water press (have you woken up yet?)
Screw the bloody homemade clock. What you really need to ask is who among the Labour team, Joseph Muscat and that ridiculous pushy hamalla Michelle included, has accepted hospitality from Baruni Beppe Hili (oh, isn’t he a baruni anymore?) aboard his great big f**k-off boat or at his second home in Croatia.
The answer to those questions will surprise you. Unless, of course, you get lied to yet again.
Mohhkom fl-arlogg, kemm intom tac-cajt. Misskom tisthu tghidu li intom gurnalisti.
Oh, and I hasten to add that there should be no talk about ‘the Hili family’. This is just one of the brothers who thinks he can suck up more than he has already by manipulating a starstruck and easily impressed ta’ wara l-muntanji boy from Burmarrad, li haseb li wasal ghax qed jaghmila ma’ ta’ Hili.
I stress that the other siblings have nothing to do with it.

One question I would direct to Joey Mussy would be the following: should you become PM will you guarantee that the ODZ close to the Freeport will remain untouched and no permits will be issued?
Can you please tell us whether Beppe Hili donated any monies to your campaign and if in the affirmative when was the donation made and how much did it amount to?
Will you confirm or deny that neither you nor anyone close to you or in the Labour team accepted hospitality on Beppe Hili’s yacht and at his home in Croatia?
Also whether there was more than one donation and whether the larger one was to thank you for the assurance of the power plant contract.
And if the smaller one was larger than 399,999 euro?
I have an uneasy feeling that the major news organizations, barring PN’s, are in the pockets of the likes of Beppe Hili and Keith Schembri tal-Kasco.
Daphne,
I would like to ask another question to Muscat…
He says that he’s committed in implementing a party financing law. he mentioned this again yday during the meeting and mentions this every time political scandals are being debated.
lets leave this aside and go back to one of Muscat first interviews, when he was appointed leader of PL. one of his idea where that the political parties should be financed by the taxpayer, where the parties will receive an amount of euros for every vote they get in a general election. This ‘fee’ shall be paid annually he said.
Now the questions starts here, if he’s suggesting a party financing law that will be illegal for a political party to accept a donation of over 5,000eur, how the hell they will pay for their excessive expenses. How will they afford paying 40k to someone like Micallef Laison? Or a 2 million euro in an election campaign?
Will he implement the idea that political parties are financed by the state, even if he didn’t include it in his glossy electoral program?
What about the parties at the Musumeci-Hererra household?
If the latter is promoted to judge, if Labour are elected, wouldn’t that mean that the Fearless Leader’s judgement would have been biased by his friendhsip to the couple?
Like I said, check out the question done to the PM about a loan from Zaren Vassallo. They never have the courage to ask questions of this type to Muscat. I feel compelled to state this: The Times wants Muscat in Castille just for the sake of change.
Ask Keith Schembri – probably he has the correct answer to this.
It is not The Times that want Muscat in Castille, it is a particular member of the Strickland Foundation who knows that with Muscat in Castille he can have his go at the leadership of the PN.
That’s a heavy insinuation.
Daphne, pity you can’t go and ask these pertinent questions yourself..l-unika gurnalista, apparti Lou Bondi, bil-b..d li ghad fadal. It would make for some interesting press conferences.
[Daphne – I don’t work as a reporter anymore. I haven’t for years.]
The editor of the Times should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. Never seen such biased or one-sided reporting – I hope it backfires.
I shall be waiting for Mark Micallef of The Times to put those questions to josephmuscat.com. That would balance his reporting. Or is he only interested in publishing screwed-up documents?

See, even KMB “is convinced” that the Labour Party will return to its roots of the party he led between 1984 and 1992.
Let’s put it this way, the branches are still all there: Leo Brincat, Karmenu Vella, Alex Sceberras Trigona, George Vella, Joe Debono Grech, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca…
I honestly think that you should get a press card issued ASAP and go ask some decent questions before it’s too late. I am sick of the feeble questions fielded by journalists (apart from Bondi). As your loyal readers, we are thirsty for some decent face-to-face grilling of politicians.
[Daphne – No, because everywhere I go and whatever I do, I become the story. It’s not just the Labour Party but even some of my colleagues in the press who forget that I am a journalist and not a politician, and they handle me like the latter.]
Agreed re treatment in your regard Daphne. Similar for Lou Bondi and Peppi Azzopardi.
I got into a political discussion with some Labour-leaning colleagues earlier in the campaign. While they accepted any MLP plans blindly (of course), they could not come up with any argument based on real substance.
So what did they attack my own arguments with? The scandalous meddling tactics of DCG, Lou and Peppi, who are all part of a PN-funded propaganda machine, and in the case of Lou & Pep, have also been allowed to take over PBS – the broadcaster ‘tal-istat’, xarukaza.
Labour and the free press cannot co-exist.
Ignorance is stronger than freedom of speech, because ignorance is expressed with means other than the oral route.
Your appearance in the press area of the first ‘taht it-tinda’ event in Sliema is a case in point, with Labour’s reporter, Anthony David Gatt, filming you, rather than reporting what Gonzi had to say. Diversionary tactics – so typical of Labour.
I think this time they will burn down The Times during office hours while some editors and journalists are still preparing their reports in their offices.
But they will need more petrol because the building is a lot bigger. U l-petrol daqsxejn expensive issa.
They will not burn The Times down – that would put into serious jeopardy the massive amounts owed to Keith Tal-Kasco.
This will happen the first and second time you go to a press conference, but then it will become the norm. Your presence would surely put the fearless leader at ease. I am hence putting forward a petition with your readers to support me in urging you to get a press pass asap.
Joseph Muscat would soil himself the moment he spots you. Please, Daphne, for our sake, for your country, get a press pass if you must, and strike fear into the heart of The Fearless.
You are our Boudicea and our Rodelinda (this one’s for KZT). We are all behind you. All six of us.
Very good idea.
I remember our Daphne at Alfred Sant’s first press conference as PM, asking him why he didn’t kiss the cross when he took his oath of office. All his bravado and bluff evaporated in an instant and he was left ashen-faced, trying to make up some intellectual riposte on the fly.
[Daphne – Caught you, you bloody fibber. You’ve been pretending to be around 30, which sounded highly unlikely. That press conference was more than 16 years ago.]
Good sleuthing, Daphne. I know his age, however he does look not much over thirty.
The same memory which recalls 80s glam rock can also recall a press conference in 1996, wouldn’t you think?
Right behind you too.
Beppe Hili should shed more light on the fund raising lunches he organised at his other home in Gharghur.
The regulars where the Fat Controller, his brother Godfrey and Charles Mangion. The guest list always included disgruntled Nationalist businessmen in a bid to convince them to switch to Labour.
Joseph is so transparent in everything he does. Daqs il-kristall.
When they burnt The Times, it WAS office hours – we were preparing for the next day’s issue, which, of course, went out as usual – to the anger of the Labour Party.
Beppe Hili or Joseph Muscat should declare without any hesitation how much money he has donated.
Word going round is that the amount was not small and definitely not a loan.
Is this perhaps why he is making himself cosy with the MLP ?

I wonder whether an electronic newspapers similar to the Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, and the Drudge Report can be created in Malta. In the US, these e-papers are much more popular than the traditional papers like The New York Times.
I wonder whether such electronic papers would ever find the appropriate resources (ie. proper journalists with b**ls and ethics) to work with, unless the profession has been badly screwed up by the lectures of Evarist Bartolo at the University.
It is customary in big businesses that one partner takes the governing party while the other takes the opposition so when the tables turn, they are always on the winning end.
Tal Misthija wara li harqu it Times building! Il-godda nsew or conveniently forgot what happened back then
Ghax kif nafu lkoll, l-ahwa. Se nivvutaw Labour biex innaddfu l-politika.
