The Barbarians at the gate are behaving as though they’re in the citadel already
Why is Muscat surprised that his people are now behaving like arrogant animals even before we have voted? He has spent the last few weeks leading by example, talking and behaving as though this election is just a formality, a necessary inconvenience, because he’s the prime minister already.
Today he went on Super One radio to warn his supporters not to let the side down. You will notice from this report on his website, Maltastar, that it’s not the harm caused to others that he’s worried about, but the harm done to Labour’s image.
Now he’s said that he will report to the police all those cases of violence that he hears about. Indeed. Again, he has led by example here. Let’s not get into the subject of the cocaine at Hal Safi again, but it’s bloody obvious that his supporters will now expect him to cover up for them too.
MUSCAT WARNS ABOUT VIOLENCE AND ‘TAKING OVER’

The Labour leader Joseph Muscat this morning gave two serious warnings to a minority of people who believe they could speak and act on behalf of New Government in their workplaces.
Speaking during an interview on One Radio he said those that believe they can speak on behalf of a new government and are speaking nonsense at their workplaces have nothing to do with the Labour Party.
Dr. Muscat declared that once reports reach the PL, they will be ‘disowned’ by the party. He urged anyone who knows about such cases to report them immediately. He added that they are doing no pleasure to the PL but are doing a great disservice and are damaging the PL’s reputation in the last crucial moments of the election campaign.
Dr Muscat said that if the PL has something to communicate it will be his job, as a leader or of persons in charge by the Labour Party to do so. In this light, he said he wished to make a clear and public warning.
The Labour leader also stressed that violence is never justified and the PL will not support it.
“We will condemn every act of violence and shall even report to the police to intervene,” said Muscat.

Perhaps he could look into the rumour that candidates are going around promising jobs in public administration.
Supermarkets, factories, et al.
Too little, too late.
Joseph Muscat, for far too long you have fertilized the soil that has continued to nourish and sustain the violent elements that characterise the Labour Party, if only by drawing to the centre Joe Debono Grech, Leo Brincat, Karmenu Vella, Alex Sceberras Trigona, and the other now-fossilized prime movers of the Mintoff and KMB governments during the oppressive and violent 70s and early 80s.
When you report violent incidents, that will also be too late. The incidents will have already happened, innocent people will have been wantonly hurt and property damaged – all in order to satisfy your personal ambition at the cost of all else.
I believe. Amen.
“and shall even report to the police to intervene” – as opposed to the norm…
Oh, yes, I agree perfectly. They are already behaving and acting as if Joseph Muscat is already the new prime minister.
First warning is: Joseph is the SOLE great leader “who can speak on behalf of a New Government.”
Second: Violence will not be tolerated – This, 5 years AFTER labour (under A Sant) declared that the party was cleansed of internal violent elements!
@ “He added that they (violent thugs) … are damaging the PL’s reputation in the last crucial moments of the election campaign.”
This reminds me that someone has uploaded footage on facebook showing a labour billboard (a female patient facing a doctor) smeared with black paint.
You may recall that last Sunday a Nationalist supporter was attacked by labour supporters and had to be treated at hospital. This has obviously damaged the PL’s image.
So, if you believe that nationalists have vandalised a labour billboard, then you know that both parties are now on par in the “damaged reputation” stakes.
Oh for fuck’s sake, “doing no pleasure”. Guess they haven’t hit the right zones yet.
Dik il-blukka bajda, tufu ta’ min hi?
He added that they are doing no pleasure to the PL …
Rights not pleasures!
wtf? favours?
He did not condemn the hanged effigy of Dr. Gonzi at the PL’s meeting. His voice on Xarabank calling Dr. Gonzi liar, liar, liar, is still echoing in their ears.
It is too late to undo the harm he has done with his actions and words. As soon as they win, he will lose control over his supporters. They will cause mayhem and he cannot do anything about it.
As one of your commenters said here earlier, Alfred Sant distanced himself from the violent elements within the MLP and took serious action.
Muscat’s call comes too late in the day. Being a showy showy, kissing his wife in public just to catch more votes (kemm hu helu hux, ibus lill-mara. Jahasra, arah kemm hu gustuz) he is afraid of losing popularity. This recent warning is as fake as his smile.
The MLP supporters would fit in perfectly in the ghettos of Detroit City or on the south side of Chicago.
Same pea-brain violent hair-trigger mentality and expecting government to provide them with everything while they laze about and pursue cheap pleasures.
Why go vote before noon may I ask? What does he have up his sleeve? It looks very scary to me. They might be planning some bullying in the afternoon.
Joseph the conman.
IF he was serious he would have spoken out and made an example of what Albert Gauci Cunningham said. – The billboards are still up.
IF he wanted to reign in his crowd, Isla wouldn’t have two trailers waiting to block it off during expected celebrations at which “lanqas il-Pulizija ser jidhlu ghal 3 ijiem shah.”
IF he was genuine, he would lead by example and not smirk in situations demanding a more befitting comportment.
IF he meant a word of what he said, he wouldn’t have ignored the seriousness of the drug trafficking-cover up lies. – he would have resigned.
But a liar, with a huge ego, who has no idea about proper comportment or values, who needs a ‘switcher’ to write his press releases, a teleprompter to talk, others to contribute overly (at which point does overly become completely?) towards his doctoral thesis, who would be PM with half a cabinet that already comes equipped with a CV dipped in our blood, is not expected by us to be capable of vouching for anything.
Did you dream up that Press Release simply because the Hamrun act required that formality? A day and a half later?
More dangerous despite being even more insignificant than KMB, Joseph’s words count for ZERO:
ZERO truth.
ZERO values.
ZERO vision.
And that’s about the sum of your contribution to Maltese politics anyway: ZERO.
On this we not only have foresight, but the benefit of hindsight too. And again, we are being proved right. One act is, again, already enough to prove that absolutely nothing has changed with your mob, and that you are the lead mobster.
You, Joseph, are no gentleman. A gentleman’s words are his deeds. Your words have never been your deeds. Your deeds have never been your words:
Gentiluomo si nasce non si diventa.
This is not “just another day” where “just another” differently coloured tie gets chosen for you to put on in the morning.
It is not a staged event.
It’s not even meant to be about you.
This is OUR reality that you are conning your way towards.
Our REAL life: Our careers, our values, our economy, our investments, our security, our dreams, our next generations.
Our work.
Your scam.
He should have put this warning on The Times commentary board , where all the whiners about gas and fuel prices , on bank profits , EU statistics, and the weather always give the impression that Labour’s Mister Fix It Joseph Muscat will deliver the goods they whine about.
Mr Spiritieri , Laiviera and J Brincat are not representing Labour.
So do not hope that everything will be alright if you vote Labour.
Violence is something inbred in Labour.
