About that Leo….and George who refuses to go to Brussels but who has now gone to Mauritania
In what capacity was he selected to represent the Maltese government at Margaret Thatcher’s funeral? Shouldn’t it have been the Minister for Europe, Louis Grech, or our foreign minister, George Vella?
Perhaps it’s because he was the Labour Party’s international secretary when Margaret Thatcher was prime minister.
Qabda freaks – can’t get a single one right.
Maybe they sought advice from their Big Fan Martin Scicluna, who headed his last column of the election campaign, for The Malta Independent on Sunday, Time For a Change to Labour – and who, predictably, absolutely hated Margaret Thatcher’s guts.
Maybe she put him firmly in his place during that one briefing session he said he had with her while working for her government.
All these not-so-hidden agendas…
Apparently, our foreign minister – the very same who refuses to go to Brussels, ma jmurx jiehu xi marda – has just left for Mauritania, “leading a delegation”. Information as to what sort of delegation is a bit short – ghax taf int, dan il-gvern trasparenti hafna. They’re at the 5+5 meeting.

Well Leo certainly did not cut an imposing figure at the funeral…barely noticeable or visible….probably the shortest foreign representative.
Well, Scicluna’s hatred for Margaret Thatcher might stem from the fact that he never made it to Colonel.
[Daphne – What would Thatcher have had to do with that? British prime ministers do not get involved in who gets promoted to the rank of colonel in any regiment. In any case, when she became prime minister in 1979, Martin Scicluna was in his mid-40s, which is already a tad too late to be moping about hoping to be made colonel. Most officers have retired already at that age, and he probably was too.]

Seeing the picture the only thing that came to my mind was – what a bunch of tossers.
Just finished reading your last couple of posts, Daphne.
I suggest the ‘out of control’ antics of the new government and it’s ministers are directly related to a thirty-nine year-old, hypocritical, manipulative and diabolical little person, totally inexperienced successfully running a large organization.
Chaos reigns and will continue.
George Vella will feel more at home in Mauritania than he would in Brussels or in London for very obvious reasons.
5+5 is all about military cooperation. Hardly an isolationist Mintoffian’s cup of tea. Hence the transparency.
So Leo goes to London instead of the Prime Minister, since Joseph is busy and has to visit St Aloysius College.
Is this a sign of gross inferiority complex?
Like a boy who plays sick to miss school and an exam he did not prepare for.
