Ramona Frendo featured hugely in the Labour Party’s electoral campaign – on billboards, in videos, and under tents and igloos – telling us that she had decided to vote Labour because she believes in meritocracy and with Labour it’s not who you know but what you know.
She left out the bit about how she’s the daughter of the people who ran the Zejtun Mintoff club, and how she started her political career as an ‘independent’ Zejtun councillor when the independents were Labour. But never mind. She fooled some people into thinking that she’s a tal-pepe ex Nazzjonalista switcher, rather than a Mintoffjana from Zejtun who took elocution lessons, and that’s what counts.
The Labour Party is elected to government and among the first appointments made is hers: to the Justice Reform Commission. And today, her husband’s appointment was announced: Peter Borg, director at Malta Enterprise, under the chairmanship of that great meritocrat, Mario Marx Vella.
And her sister-in-law, Karen Bugeja nee Borg, has been appointed to the board of directors at Air Malta.
Imma l-aqwa li it’s not who you know but what you know that counts.

Such sad, warped people. Hasn’t medical science developed an antiobiotic that will combat such imbecility?
Recently Cameron put some of his Eton friends at No.10 and The Sunday Times (London) called this phenomenon “chumocracy”.
In this case, ‘chavtocracy’ would be more fitting.
Wow the lady sure knpws how to act. She does deserve an Oscar.
