Roads closed to traffic, and Manuel Mallia’s entourage ploughs right through en route to Consuelo Herrera’s festa party

Members of my international worldwide network of spies, this time in Siggiewi last Saturday, took these pictures of the National Security Minister’s official government car ploughing right through the area barred to traffic (with army security detail) and into the main square, to go to a party thrown by Magistrate Consuelo Herrera.

Was the police car following the Minister carrying the foodstuffs for the party and hot delicacies which could not possibly be carried a long way by hand?

Similar to my previous comment, they should have approached their destination from Triq Mons M Azzopardi with no need to go through the crowded square, but it seems they WANTED to draw the attention on them!!

    Might is right.

    What a pompous twit!

“All animals are equal, but some pigs are more equal than others.”

Minor though, in this case, relevant modification to George Orwell’s classic quote.

I think being a minister has gone to his head. He thinks he can do anything!! Il-P.M. ghandu bzonn jigbidlu widnejh u ghidlu jaghti ezempju.

4×4 with number plate NEX055 ….clearly stands for Nexos

    Excellent photoshot. Full of symbolism.

There in the background of the GM14 car is the “Friends to all Bar” in the corner which is the PITS in Siggiewi, famous for the scum crowd and dumbsters that come to mix to share swearwords, bully habits, playboy wannabees etc.everyday. Just imagine this fantastic crowd during the village feast.

Well these idiots too have a habit of double or triple parking just like our GM cars and their entourage did, whose occupants went to mix with the incrowd of Castille Cretins at the Robcons residence down the square from there and around the corner of Main Street. I can just picture them.

Tghidlix le, Manwel – ha naghmillek double whisky with ice bhal ta’ Jose’ biex nibdew. Ejja ngawdu sew il-festa, thanks to the switchers, Evviva.

    Ara biex tghabbejna.

  13. C Falzon says:

Why should I as a taxpayer be paying for Manuel Mallia to be escorted by soldiers to a private party, and probably even for someone to drive the car for him?

  15. Esteve says:

Is it just my impression or is it a hallmark of third world countries to have a military presence in places where one would not expect it?

Is there some imminent threat to one of our ministers we should perhaps know about?

I think that the military should be kept as far away from civilians as possible – this smacks of intimidation.

  16. Gahan says:

    Siggiewi’s ‘sacred’ place is ‘il-pjazza’.

The big event for the villagers is ‘il-festa’.

By Siggiewi standards, Mallia’s grand entry in the crowded main square on the eve of the village feast is considered a sacrilege.

After the fireworks display finishes on the feast day, at around 22.30 the only vehicles allowed are those of the volunteers-the village heros- who let off the fireworks, these men go to place flowers at the foot of the processional statue of Saint Nicholas during the last ceremony in the church.
