The language of National Socialism – will somebody ask the gay crowd on Facebook what they think?

Published: July 9, 2013 at 9:50pm

The Malta Independent reports:

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat explained that the migrants had been separated, with the healthy male members of the group being considered for the push-back.

Does this sort of language ring any bells with anyone at all?

Oh, and just look at this lovely chap.

Anders Breivik must be really proud of you for persevering with his campaign, you cocky little prick, Joseph Muscat.

I’ll bet you admire him loads.

Breivik is a fanatic Aryan – to him we should all be slated for elimination. He would certainly not see any difference between us Maltese (anki dawk li qishom Inglizi!) and the N. Africans

“Il Cowboy” Joseph Muscat. Looks like he lost his head and reasoning. I wonder what he would have done in Dr Gonzi’s position in the last legislature.

  5. Mole says:

Oh, nice family-friendly decisions. Well done, Muscat …. So now women and children living without their father.

So that means more social benefits given because they have no men to work for them.

[Daphne – That’s hardly the point, is it.]

  6. Dumbo says:

The source is Wikipidia but let us not forget:-
Crimes against humanity, as defined by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court Explanatory Memorandum, “are particularly odious offenses in that they constitute a serious attack on human dignity or grave humiliation or a degradation of human beings.” They are not isolated or sporadic events, but are part either of a government policy (although the perpetrators need not identify themselves with this policy) or of a wide practice of atrocities tolerated or condoned by a government or a de facto authority. Murder; extermination; torture; rape; political, racial, or religious persecution and other inhumane acts reach the threshold of crimes against humanity only if they are part of a widespread or systematic practice. Isolated inhumane acts of this nature may constitute grave infringements of human rights, or depending on the circumstances, war crimes, but may fall short of falling into the category of crimes under discussion. This is what our Prime Minister had in mind when he wanted to keep his options open. Shame.

Can we ask Franco Debono to contact his friend Angolina Jolie about Joseph’s push back policy?

Can anyone with a good pen and good manners write to Angolina? Joseph deserves some publicity.

It’s a good thing she’s not here but there, in Brussels.

She has to put an extra layer of make-up tomorrow before entering parliament building. What an embarrassment to be ‘there’ after what Muscat has done ‘here’, today.

    • Josette says:

Josianne Magri – you might deny it but you’re clear racist, just uncomfortable being one because you know it’s wrong. And bullying is not a show of strength.

You show strength when you take on someone who’s stronger than you, not someone who has already been beaten by life.

And as for the threats to hunt down immigrants and drop a bomb in the sea – I’m lost for words … these are threats of bodily harm, made on a public forum (but what is the size of these people’s brain – similar to that of an ant?) and I think the police can take action, if the Police Commissioner could for once get off his butt.

  17. Dott Abjad says:

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s speech in Parliament this evening had all the undertones of the quintessential ‘Hitleresque’ speech.

It was rabid, it was loud, it was intimidating, it was populist, it brought you right down to the ‘now-moment’ where you could almost picture him right in front of you, gesticulating, articulating, punching the air with his fists, filling the air with his spit, and evil.

However it was not only the delivery but it was also the message, one of hate, one of racism, one of shallow mantras and essentially a message of isolation and of grandeur.

To me, we are now witnessing, in real terms, the marriage between neo-Mintoffianism and National Socialism.

The historical events that supplied Hitler and the Nazis with the fertile grounds for Nazism to flourish and prosper were specifically the treaty of Versailles and the socio-political scenario prevalent in 1930’s Deutschland.

Mintoffianism, which has laid practically dormant for the last 30 years has sprung up like a flower in bloom, because it is from the same line of thought of ‘Malta l-ewwel u qabel kollox’ that this current popular racist sentiment has its roots.

  19. Edward says:

I am from the gay crowd. I think it is disgusting. I cannot believe what is happening. Would all gay members of the Labour Party please ditch their jobs within the party and get protesting.

  20. Plagarised says:

What is utterly disgusting is the fact that Muscat was still planning to forge ahead with the push-back since the ECHR only informed the government verbally.

I feel that I have to make it clear that the European Court of Human Rights has absolutely nothing to do with the EU. Malta joined the Council Of Europe in 1965, under PN obviously,to get this into perspective Muscat was born almost 10 years after Malta joined the COE.

Dr Muscat in his doctoral thesis mentions how Enrico Mizzi was illegaly deported to Uganda, however, since he is now in power it’s alright and he can do as he pleases. A push-back is an effective deportation, repatriation on the other hand would mean sending the persons back to their country of citizenship.

Bl-agir ta’ Joseph Muscat milli jibghat lill-immigranti lura f’pajjizhom, hija konferma cara kemm qaghad gallarija meta kien hemm ir-rivoluzzjoni ta’ Gaddafi fil-Libja. X’kien jaghmel b’dawk iz-zewg piloti li kienu talbu kenn politiku – jerga’ jibghathom lura?

Min jaf li kieku flok immigranti suwed kienu cinizi – x’kien jaghmel – tghid kien jibghathom lura?

  22. Chris Mifsud says:

If the EU are so against push backs / deportation may I suggest that the Maltese authorities issue the illegal immigrants with Maltese / EU passports and a ONE WAY ticket to Brussels ON the condition that they do NOT return to Malta.

No laws would be broken that way and we would still be respecting human rights etc.

[Daphne – ‘No laws would be broken that way’. You really know very little, don’t you. Of course that’s against the law.]

    • Chris Mifsud says:

I’m not a lawyer and obviously I stand to be corrected but I can’t see how issuing a passport to an immigrant who has had his application for asylum accepted would be illegal.

[Daphne – Asylum gives you refugee status, not citizen status. Refugees keep their own original passports. Passports convey citizenship, or rather, the other way round.]

I know of many immigrants who have had their applications accepted and who freely travel, even outside of Europe for holidays and what not. Surely they would need a passport to do so.

[Daphne – Why do you leap to the assumption that their passport is Maltese? It isn’t. I think you fail to understand that passports are not just passports. You don’t ‘give somebody a passport’. You first have to give him citizenship. A person can’t have a Maltese passport without being a Maltese citizen.]

      • Chris Mifsud says:

Ok thanks for the correction. I’ll stop speculating on ways to get them to Europe (from Malta) but I’m sure there must be some legal way to do so.

[Daphne – You see, the hole in your thinking, Chris, is that you haven’t yet understood that Malta IS Europe. We ARE the European Union. We don’t GET THEM TO Europe, because THEY are in Europe already by dint of being in Malta. The EU is not ‘the other’. It is us, Malta.]

Surely by doing that (if possible) it would be respecting their human rights, giving them what they really want (Mainland Europe), solving Malta’s problem of having too many illegal immigrants and would put pressure on Brussels to act upon this issue seriously.

[Daphne – How would you suggest that Brussels acts, Chris?]

You mentioned Maltese problem people (rednecks etc.) in another reply. Although that is a different subject all together I would have no problem what so ever if there had to be some legal way of deporting all the MALTESE wife beaters, rapists, pedophiles, murderers etc.

[Daphne – I somehow didn’t think you would. You have scant understanding of the thinking that underpins law. You can never deport a citizen from his own country, for whatever reason.]

      • Chris Mifsud says:

[Daphne – How would you suggest that Brussels acts, Chris?]

A fair and properly implemented burden sharing agreement would be a start. Every boat load of illegal immigrants could be shared with all the EU members according to size and population or something of that sort.

Everyone had to share the burden when Greece’s economy went tits up. (Again I do not know all the facts but i’m sure you get what I am saying).

[Daphne – I somehow didn’t think you would. You have scant understanding of the thinking that underpins law. You can never deport a citizen from his own country, for whatever reason.]

I know that. In fact I wrote “if there had to be some legal way”. Unfortunately we are stuck with these (Maltese rapists/murderers/pedophiles/domestic abusers) people.

  23. Kevin says:

Muscat has proved himself to be a true fascist with his policies based on racist nationalism. Push back is in direct breach of human rights whether or not it was a bluff.

Saying that this episode was a bluff is probably a lie. No one in his or her right frame of mind needs to resort to such underhanded tactics or utterances to establish a point. This kind of rhetoric is usually uttered by bullies and terrorists. Such utterances are immoral even when stated as a joke.

The European Union rose directly out of a conflict that was based on fascism. All our grandparents (and many of our parents) suffered poverty, hunger and deprivation because of fascist attacks on our island, The George Cross on our flag is a living testament to that conflict.

If Muscat’s true intention was to shake the EU into action because he perceived inaction, then he had several diplomatic channels to do so. That is the way of educated, civilised and intelligent governance. That is the way we were brought up (by the Jesuits, I might add).

No, Muscat’s intention was not a macho game. He wanted to make a point and he was willing to bully vulnerable people to get across without regard to their health, their well-being and their lives.

This is clear in his statement that “anyone trying to stop the government’s position will also have to bear the cost.”

NGOs, journalists, lawyers and average citizens should not be “punished” or “bear the cost” for speaking their mind. This is a second breach of human rights.

What is Muscat going to do? Will he “cleanse” the island from all those who are not in agreement with any position taken by the government? Is this the true meaning of “you can work with us”? What will he do when he has the list of people signing the various petitions against such actions? Will revenge be meted out?

Importantly is the absence of a backbone from among all the Labour MPs who grace our Parliament and who have graced it in the past 5 years. Why doesn’t anyone speak out against the PM? Is paid pornography in hotels or divorce the more important issue? Or are these people in agreement?

Where are those ex-independent MPs? Do they stand with the Labour Party now? Or are they ready to speak out loud against injustices the way they spoke out in the true liberal environment under a Nationalist government? Where is Franco Debono now?

Where are those public switchers now? Why don’t you take a public stand please? Daphne mentioned two yesterday. I know one of them. I disagree with the position he has taken but I also know him as a gentleman and as someone who, I believe, would be disgusted by this.

Recently Muscat said “you ain’t seen nothing yet” or something to that effect. Yes, I am sure. Terrorism and fascism always take humanity by surprise.

One final thought about the episodes over the past few days: Muscat meets the Pope for a private chat. Muscat shows off trophy children and happy snappy pictures with the leader of the Catholic world. The Pope travels to Lampedusa and delivers a scathing criticism and a message of compassion. A day or two later Muscat delivers his fascist hate against the very same people.
