Ta’ Bundy

Have any of you watched John Bundy’s new show on TVM? It’s called Ma’ Bundy, and goes out before the 8pm news. Strictly speaking, it’s not a replacement for Norman Vella’s TVHemm, even though it fills the same slot, because TVHemm broke off for the summer months.

But given that Norman Vella has been returned to the Immigration Office with no sign of being allowed to return to PBS, it’s likely that this show, imaginatively called ‘Ta’ Bundy’, will carry on right after the summer.

The worst thing about it is not how Bundy got the show, but how cheap the show is. The set is beyond atrocious. You can see the door in the background and there’s just a bunch of tacky furniture shoved into the room, with really awful motorcycle ornaments. And the manners…when he’s finished interviewing one set of guests, instead of having them walk off the set as is normal practice, while he thanks them and says goodbye, he gets up himself, walks over to the other side of the set where some other guests are waiting, and leaves his original interviewees just sitting there like lemons.

The whole thing is so tacky and low-budget, I can’t tell you. Even with a low budget you can do stylish things, but this is just awful.

Not to mention the lousy opening.

Those must have the worst chromatic effects I’ve ever seen on TV.

The lime highlights give a purply tinge to everyone’s skin tones and the brilliant white reflected off the floor dulls every other colour.

The fact is that most are resigned to expecting low standards in practically everything under Labour. Benchmarks for Labour are usually the lowest common denominator, if not worse.

As Bundy says: Pajjiz tal-Mickey Mouse

What’s it with the electric guitar used as studio decor?

Norman Vella’s programme was much better.

Meritocracy indeed. Norman Vella is so many times better than John Bundy. There is no comparison.

But sorry, you are expecting too much from tal-mickey mouse.

    We call this payback time….

I’ve seen better computer generated graphics (with regards to the opening) in early 1980s music videos.

What would you expect from a loser. Trouble is he cannot bring himself round and admit.

Is this a temp job until they fire Anton Attard?

    • Finding Nemo says:

Yup, looks like it. Anton is his first cousin’s husband so family reunions will be strained

The studio looks like a hairdresser’s salon waiting room designed by someone like Cyrus Engerer.

Someone (a spy) informed me that the mentioned slot had to be originally given to DeeMedia with a special summer show of Tvpm with Peter Carbonaro and Corazon.

But they asked them to step aside and make way for Ta’ Bundy. Corazon had left One TV to go to TVM last year. Is this a way of paying her back? Probably.

Catena vincente on RAI uno is a much better programme at that time.

    Tacky, tasteless and tarty.

Here’s a suggestion to PBS: brit com entertains a whole lot more than bundy and his low class program, what a bloody bore.

  19. FP says:

So, which one is it then?

    Ta’ Bundy

    or

    Ma’ Bundy?

It was the former until yesterday. Today it changed to the latter. I didn’t watch either, but having a peek on the online recordings today and a lot of fidgeting with the player controls shows that it’s been changed.

Perhaps because people were asking each other “Rajtu Ta’ Bundy?”

And no word from the presenter about the change. He probably thought that no one would notice.
