The men working on that part of Melita Street between Republic Street and Old Bakery Street have their electricity supply sorted.
They’ve run a cable into Manuel Mallia’s ministry building. Now when they want a sandwich, all they have to do is ring the police.

Has Manuel Mallia finally managed to drain the water in the Triton fountain for use at home?
The poor Tritons must be suffering from sunstroke by now.
Or is this another cost-cutting exercise?
Maybe the cable actually runs all the way to his home in Windmill Street, just a couple of corners away, so that he can get free electricity like he gets free water from the public fountain at the Mainguard.
The havoc down Republic Street has to be seen, they’re tearing up paving using hammer drills, sections of the one laid recently next to the theatre replaced with raw concrete.
Method statements and site inspections a thing of the past.
Market stalls have, once again, encroached on the Palace upper courtyard side entrance blocking it.
Took the bus home, the amount of rubbish below the scaffolding set against the curtain a sight, the terminus taking on that typical quaint bazaary feel and umbrellas set in concrete filled buckets.
The other booths abandoned.
A couple of trees are dead or in dire need of water.
Anyone wanna bet those ramshackle ‘kiosks’ and ‘offices’ will remain? Yep, Labour’s in power.
‘The Charge of the Fat Brigade’.
