It’s not really about being in the EU

This is from an article I’ve just read:
Switzerland plays host to almost double the number of asylum-seekers per head of population of its European neighbours. It counts one refugee for every 332 inhabitants, compared to one per 625 inhabitants on the rest of the continent. Some 48,000 refugees are currently seeking asylum in Switzerland.
And you really must read the rest of it. It’s about Oprah Winfrey being told she couldn’t afford a handbag in a Zurich boutique, and it’s also about some Swiss towns wanting to institute separation restrictions for asylum-seekers, in public baths, libraries and so on.

We were once told about becoming Switzerland in the Mediterranean. It seems some Swiss are busy becoming Malta in the Alps.
Hardly. In Malta, there is 1 refugee per 73 ,not 332 inhabitants as is the case in Switzerland.
What concerns me is not how many refugees we have but how many bigots, rednecks and racists per 100 inhabitants. Probably the highest density in Europe.
You exaggerate. Official statistics differ from those paraded on Facebook.
In all fairness, see the other side of the story in Blick

It’s not at all as portrayed in the international media, but in times like these, racism sells. And Americans love to play the race card.
