I urge you now to visit the Facebook page of Lieutenant Keith Caruana, PRO of the Armed Forces of Malta

Published: August 10, 2013 at 12:54pm

Apart from all the highly inappropriate ‘well hello, sailor’ poses and the comments they have attracted from male admirers (comments in the same vein from women would be just as inappropriate, I hasten to add), you’ll see:

– photographs of his breakfast with comments from his mother

– disparaging remarks about the presentation of the Libyan army

– a promotion for garage doors

– videos and remarks which show contempt for women in the guise of humour, with his intelligent recommendation (“hehe”)

– a promotion for a weapon, about which he writes ‘Future toy maybe?’, and when somebody suggests that he should get a camera instead, the Armed Forces of Malta PRO replies: “When you shoot with your camera, people show off ,., when you shoot with this people remove all their bullshit

– a video of a streaker running down the street in St Julian’s

– a complaint that he is off to ‘siracuse’, that he has been working like a dog and that “this is no life”, and the response from an Italian, which he seems to see no reason to delete: “Bravi, mandateli a fare in culo in Italia: tanto la Boldrini se li porta tutti a casa sua.”

– racist videos and others used by the Far Right to promote their views, including ‘British Muslims want to take over the UK’ and ‘French girl attacked for not giving her number (to a black man)’

– patronising comments about his own ‘team’ of soldiers: “Well done to my team .. With a bit of direction here and there .. they are improving by the minute”

– the description ‘idiot’ for a boy arrested because he boarded a bus with a toy gun dangling from his belt-loop (as though boys have handbangs in which to put their toy guns), when the rest of us would apply that description to the small contingent of policemen who arrested him, and he should apply it to nobody at all because he is the Armed Forces of Malta’s public relations officer

– his barbed “note the shirt” remark about the T-shirt worn by an African immigrant in a GWU news report he has uploaded (and promoted)

– his description of ancient warmongering Greece as “a true society not like this crap we are living in”

– more contempt for women, which reveals also that the Armed Forces of Malta PRO knows no grammar and very little English, which you would imagine to be mandatory for the job: “enjoying my day of leave.. replying emails at 0600hrs dropping off kid to school at 0700hrs now accompanied by two humongious pastizzi and espresso listening to housewifes talk about very serious issues.. yesterday’s concert.. damn housewives has an easy life…

– more complaints about his working conditions: “Back from 24 and another 12 hours of work tomorrow another 24 damn life is a bitch that gives very little happy endings”

One of his friends is the Fascist Malcolm Seychell. Enough said.

    • Malcolm Seychell says:

hehe a fascist who is against state control, less social services, in favour of divorce, in favour of gay rights, doesn’t hate jews, no religion mixing up with state. Go read about fascism before you speak.

[Daphne – But hates blacks and Muslims and loves Norman Lowell and Josie Muscat.]

      • La Redoute says:

“Doesn’t hate Jews” – so says the denizen of racist forums, who thinks he’s white.

  2. Osservatore says:

He seems to have the ongoing approval of Ivan Consiglio who occupied a similar post in the AFM (not sure if he actually was a PRO). Retired as major, which means he might have pulled the odd stunt or two in his days, you’d really expect better from an officer and a supposed gentleman. What can I say, other than birds a feather most probably do flock together.

  3. Jozef says:

The PRO of our armed forces left a comment making fun of Italy’s speaker of the house.

    And what’s with the posing?

  4. Dez says:

The lack of professionalism is appalling. An utter disgrace.

  5. La Redoute says:

Ivan M. Consiglio, posting an equally undignified and inappropriate moment, is also in the AFM.

  6. dgatt says:

Ivan is one of the nicest gentlemen you’ll ever encounter. He has retired from the army after more than 25 years of sterling service.

    • Osservatore says:

You might expect better of a ‘gentleman’ than to post any comments which condone this behaviour. Ivan should have more gray hairs than this young officer and should know better.

  7. caflisa says:

This person was Josie Muscat’s Azzjoni Nazzjonali’s International Secretary in 2007.

    • Colin says:

No permission is needed to use pictures and screen grabs from Facebook pages with no privacy settings.

Lt Keith Caruana is an army officer bringing his position and the Armed Forces into disrepute – something you and your ilk have absolutely no clue about.

Also, using your reasoning (what goes around, comes around) you may therefore also “rott (sic) in hell.” I bet you have no idea what ‘sic’ means.

  9. Edward says:

Wow, what a patriot, sticking all that information about himself on Facebook, with pictures of the inside of a ship too, and displaying his stupidity for all of the Chinese military, and the intelligence squadrons of other dangerous nations, to see.

Well, if they ever wanted to attack they have more than enough information there, not just about him but about the army in Malta.

    • Edward says:

Seriously, who is in charge of all these people? They should be sacked. They have compromised the security of the nation completely, putting the Maltese at risk. Who knows what s being done with that information.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

Er, I can’t see any classified information there. Everyone knows what the inside of the AFM’s vessels looks like.

      • Marlowe says:

I wouldn’t worry too much, Edward. The Maltese army is basically a coast guard, but with AK-47s.

No one expects them to hold their own in an invasion.

They are kind of a night-light, but for adults. That’s why we have a defence agreement with Italy. Though the Italians seem a tad irritated at the moment, so who knows…

      • Josette says:

Well, they appear to be very good at scaring the daylights out of fishermen who stray (or do they?) into our fishing zone.

Actually, if our soldiers are all like this one, it’s a wonder that we haven’t had more incidents like the one this week.

      • Edward says:

I beg to differ. They ll easily see how stupid this person is. Isn’t Malta considered a soft target? Isn’t this just making even easier?

  10. Jade says:

I knew Keith some ten years ago. I must admit, he’s one of the most racist people I have ever met. I remember him praising Hitler and speaking all kinds of nonsense. Seems like he hasn’t changed.

  11. Che' John Wayne says:

Don’t I feel safe in my bed at the sight of this guy wielding that assault rifle so?

Heavens protect me from being stopped at some road-block by a gun-toting hero…

Is all this consonant with the Army Act?

  12. GH says:

This person has every right to post whatever he desires to as long as he post private content that is viewable to his fb friends alone .

[Daphne – Whether he uses privacy settings or not (he uses none), he does not have the right to post whatever he pleases, not as long as he is PRO of the Armed Forces of Malta.]

I don’t know how you got the screenshots, maybe you used a false account(there are rumors you have a handful of them).

[Daphne – There are also rumours that I ride a broomstick through the sky at night and have sex with the devil (this is, after all, largely a medieval society). No, I don’t have a Facebook account, false or otherwise. And ‘handful’ is not a word you would use for Facebook accounts. ‘Number’ is more fitting. How did I get the screenshots? Simple: anybody with a Facebook account, anywhere in the big, wide world, can view anything on the Malta Armed Forces PRO’s FB.]

However if this is not the case then I agree no one of this position should post content that lowers his respectability has a soldier.

[Daphne – Of the Armed Forces of Malta, actually, given that he’s the PRO and not just any soldier.]

  13. John says:

He was once Lowell’s right-hand man. I remember that in my uni days. Much like a Lowell Youth leader (Hitler’s youth anyone?).

  14. TROY says:

    An officer and an idiot.

    Armed Farces of Malta.

He disgraces all those in the AFM.
