Sliema Couple charged with using false euro notes
The Malta Independent – Thursday, 20 December 2007

A man and a woman from Sliema were yesterday charged with using and circulating false euro notes.

Marco Vella, 34, and Wendy Janet Agius, 32, both from Sliema, pleaded not guilty to the charges of using false euro notes and defrauding several establishments of less than Lm100 on and before 17 December.

Ms Agius was also accused of relapsing.

Prosecuting Inspector Ian Joseph Abdilla told the court, presided over by magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, that the money was found in their Sliema apartment during a raid. He added that the police found 32 false e50 and e100 notes, and said that it was the biggest haul of false euro notes so far.

Magistrate Padovani granted Mr Vella and Ms Agius bail, against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000 each.

Police Inspector Ian Joseph Abdilla and Inspector Stephen Gatt prosecuted, while Dr Joseph Giglio and Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused.
