Piju Camilleri, Il-Hawsla – busy with projects again

Published: September 3, 2013 at 12:21pm

If you’d like to find out more about Piju Camilleri (known as Il-Hawsla) and his company Luqa Development Ltd, which has applied for the development of a 1,000-grave private cemetery and crematorium – and please note that this is not an invitation to debate the merits of a crematorium for Malta; let’s stick to the subject – you must read the report in the link below. It dates back to the time when Malta Today was a proper newspaper rather than an axe-grinding vehicle for the exorcising of Saviour Balzan’s personal demons.

    Shocking!

  2. Jozef says:

Straight out of a gangster movie. Where’s Joe Pesci?

    • Jozef says:

They delve in public transport, the port, concrete, land speculation, contraband.

Old school mafia, or better Mafia perdente on the rise.

As for the article, a certain Chetcuti made his big break in Fgura.

      Bloody hell. My thoughts exactly.

Imagine if Lorry Sant hadn’t died in the interim…

    • Josette says:

The “funny” thing is that once he died, this lot turned against his wife and threw her out of the Marsacala villa.

In his attempt to keep his role in these deals secret, Lorry Sant had nothing in his name.

A bit of poetic justice, but it would have been more poetic had this lot of ħnieżer also lost everything.

    • Betty says:

With Lorry Sant’s death Il-Hawsla won the grand lottery.

He had a massive falling-out with Lorry’s widow Carmen, who lived next door to him at Marsascala and I don’t think they ever spoke again.

Min hataf hataf u issa naghmlu festa ikbar, thanks to Joseph.

Is Il-Hawsla still using the services of MEPA consultant Robert Musumeci?

Does his brother not run an illegal eatery near Gudja?

  5. CIS says:

Zmien Lorry Sant spicca, Sur Camilleri.

  6. tinnat says:

Zgur, CIS? I think it’s back with a vengeance.

  7. P Sant says:

In 1989, a year before the commission made its report public, the Labour party general conference decided not to allow Piju Camilleri, Victor Balzan and Joe Camilleri to participate in any party activity.

Is he now returning to the fold?

  8. Toyger says:

Oh God, I’m so ashamed to be related to one of these guys. No wonder my family never spoke of him and avoided him like the plague.

Thanks, Daphne, for giving me information that my family refuses to tell me.

  9. Francis Saliba MD says:

I would lose all desire to meet my Creator any time soon if that would involve the services of Piju Camilleri. My family might find itself buying a grave that was not Piju’s to sell.

  10. Ma xebax jiffanga? Lanqas biss jafu jisthu, ja hmieg li huma.

  11. Victor says:

The Nationalist Party should publish all these stories every time there is mention that any of these scoundrels is surfacing once again.

Since the government is taking us back to the ‘golden’ years, it is in the public’s interest to learn all about those years.

  12. hopeful says:

I cannot understand why this fuss and surprise. This was in Joseph’s mind when he became leader of the Labour Party – to bring all the scum back together again. That’d how he won the election

  13. Veteran says:

Ah. Victor Balzan. Is his son is married to Jesmond Mugliette’s sister?

[Daphne – Yes, Ben Balzan nee Mugliett.]
