“How exciting! I’m really making the most of these five years. Today I met a wife just like me!”

Another picture for Michelle Muscat’s photograph album: here she is, meeting Mrs Ban Ki-Moon – who is married to the United Nations secretary general, in New York.

As you can see from the screenshot here, the Labour Party’s news site is so thrilled about it that it has uploaded the picture twice. But that might be to make up for the lack of text, because there’s no accompanying story. It’s just a ‘pic of PM’s wife with wife of famous international leader’ moment.

Jahasra – if only they had a bit more panache. Meanwhile, will somebody make enquiries as to whether Mrs Muscat’s hairdresser forms part of the government delegation, or whether she had that aging confection concocted at the in-house salon of whatever hotel they’re staying at?

Really smart people don’t have hairstyles, Mrs Muscat. Work it out by simple observation.

I dare say she’s looking more and more like a Chinese or Russian Prime Minister’s wife.

    ‘Yoo Soon-Taek’

    You couldn’t make it up.

Pity they had the same style of dress. Michelle would have been more glamorous if she looked different from the rest.

Did they have a conversation about their husbands’ early days, I wonder? Ban Ki-Moon is entirely self-made and grew up studying late into the night without the benefit of electric light, an indulgent mummy who made him wear a vest and daddy who bought him a house with a swimmink pool.

And he’s totally modest and unassuming, to boot.

I too have had the opportunity to meet several big heads, including Ban Ki-moon, in connection with my work. Difference: i never made it known to all men :)

That the spouse of a PM of a country is exhibited in this fashion denotes a poor appreciation of oneself and of the country – no matter how tiny – one represents.
