We’ve forgotten already how Marlene Farrugia resigned after just one day in the job as her ‘husband’s’ ministerial aide

And that was because of the media fuss. Konrad Mizzi and his wife were not the first – they’re just making out that it’s different because her job isn’t with his ministry but with Chris Cardona’s.
Marlene Farrugia’s job wasn’t even on a salary – it was (quite ridiculously, but just like Godfrey Farrugia’s other helpers John and Louisa Dalli) pro bono. But the money isn’t the whole point, is it. In fact, it’s a relatively minor issue.

“Speaking to the Times of Malta on condition of anonymity, a number of directors said chairman Mario Vella never brought the matter up for discussion, even though the board would normally vet such an appointment.”

Did Mario Vella act alone when Mrs. Mizzi was appointed as a special envoy for Malta Enterprise?
Konrad Mizzi knew nothing and was only informed by his wife. Chris Cardona knew nothing about how she was selected for the job.
So who knows anything? The Times should now ask Joseph Muscat directly.
Seeing that any criticism is being leveled at the previous administration, you can bet it’s all Gonzi’s doing.
Cardona was so pathetic, saying that he had no idea about how the appointment was made, or indeed about who took the decision and executed said appointment.
Then, in the same breath, he proclaimed his absolute faith in that person, and the appointment, in spite of having no idea about……well anything really.
There’s a word for someone who’s like that: w*nker.
If Chris Cardona was even a remote contender for a future PL leader, I bet he would have been given the same treatment Anglu Farrugia received prior to the March 2013 elections.
