How perfectly typical. How entirely predictable. It shows exactly what value they place, what value they have always placed, on an EU passport.
First they didn’t want Malta to join the EU. But once we’re in, majtezwel sell the passports, eh.

I don’t suppose the government will be asking where each €650,000 is coming from.
The tragedy is that, in international eyes, it will not be Joseph Muscat’s government but Malta that is selling EU passports.
Not even Greece, with all its problems, resorted to such a scheme.

There is a provision for the verification of funds. How they will accomplish it and if they succeed is another matter.
Asking theoretically: Can for example the Chinese government buy 400K Maltese passports?
China does not want – does not need – 400 thousand Maltese passports.
This scheme is mainly for crooks, Chinese or otherwise.
