I’m sure Mario Philip Azzopardi, director of propaganda videos for the Labour Party, can be prevailed upon to produce the Maltese equivalent with a bit of Chinese money

Now that Joseph Muscat will be printing and selling Maltese golden passports for Euro 650,000, one would hope that the Chinese do not betray their Maltese friend by producing fake copies of Maltese passports in China and selling them at cheap prices in the third world.

Am I the only one fascinated by the irony? Picture a cabinet meeting-bitchfest with Joseph Muscat and Manwel Mallia whining about not being able to send those African ‘undesirables’ back to their crumbling societies, then brainwave!

“If EU holds our reins because we’re subject to their laws then screw them – we’ll sell ‘citizenship’, cash the cheque and slap them with ‘the other’ undesirables.”

I wonder how many potential new citizens St. Kitts will lose on account of Malta’s sale of passports? With a St. Kitt’s passport you’re basically allowed to enter any country in the world, for a short stay, but with a Maltese passport you’re entitled to residency rights in any EU country.

In other words, a St. Kitts passport is bronze verging on tin, while a Maltese passport is gold.

Surely someone in St. Kitt’s, or whatever other tinpot nation in the Caribbean offers these schemes, knows the dirt on Malta and whose vested interests will be substantially dented on account of Malta.

The shit will hit the fan, I’m certain of it. Mind you, it already has, even with so little information.

Henley & Partners probably know this. They seem to have hedged their losses from the Caribbean scams in their fees and commissions on the Maltese passport sales.

Has the government explained the duration of its contract with this firm?

Or is it like a perpetual money-making machine?

A St.Kitts passport would have come in handy during Mintoff’s reign.
