And how the Smart Alecs and Clever Dicks jeered and sneered at him when he said it
As though the signs weren’t there already when they began dealing with scum like Franco Debono, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Jesmond Mugliett and others.
Anyone who deals with scum and cooperates with scum for his own ends is scum himself. This is a quintessential truth in every area of life and politics and only fools of all ages don’t understand it. The decent have no truck with the indecent. They cannot stand them, let alone stand to cooperate with them or make use of their indecency for their own ends.
Lawrence Gonzi was right. And so was I. Saying that brings no satisfaction, because there is no turning back now and this is a tragedy of mammoth proportions, with consequences the full scale of which we can’t even begin to understand yet.

Kemm kellkom ragun.
Kellna Prim Ministru bil-b**d u tajnieh bis-sieq.
Tal-misthija.
Qed nghixu f’realta fejn is-serjeta hija redikulizata u l-injoranza hi akklamata.
Tal-Labour qed jaqilbu l-valuri tas-socjeta’ Maltija ta’ taht fuq: Li tkun kriminali huwa tajjeb, li tkun onest u integru hu hazin.
I have said it before and I’ll say it again… Iz-zmien ghad jaghti r-ragun lil Dr. Gonzi. Dr. Gonzi was Prime Minister at the worst possible time hence we may have turned out to be unpopular. Let some time pass and you’ll see that he was right in all he said and did.
A propos Franco, where is he these days?
Harassing each minister one by one to get a retainer for doing eff all

Totally agree with Dr. Gonzi. I am avoiding discussions on the passport issue with my non-Maltese friends as it’s truly embarrassing.
On the contrary, I point out the secrecy and the evil and disassociate myself most emphatically from it. Qui tacit consentire … or however it goes.
So true.
How sad.
I just wanna curl up in a ball and sleep until it’s all over.
I cry in shame.
This MUST be on a billboard translated in English around the Maltese islands.
Dr.Gonzi was on the right direction
Gone are the days when we hit international headlines because of our valour in the Libya crisis. For being on the right side of history from the start and for not setting the fighter jets back and for being focal to saving people’s lives.
Now we make it to international headlines. But for wanting to use push-back policy and send people back to their doom without allowing them to apply for asylum.
Or for making a farce out of our and the EU’s citizenship. Selling it blindly, no strings attached, and retaining our clients anonymous.
” You can’t change a winning horse”
David Cameron pre election March 2013.
There’s another expression: Too clever by half.
The silent qualifier at the end of that is “a class.”
When one tries to be to clever by half (a class) one is trying his damnedest to rise above one’s station and may well get the riches from the action, but never the respect or repute aspired to within any class above the original one.
One such action is enough to define a person and certainly a party of them.
