While all the snouts are in the trough, who’s holding the fort?

The people in the Labour Party, from the highest to the lowest apparatchik, are so engrossed in crowding up to the government trough that nobody has been left to hold the fort – or if they have, they can’t be bothered.

Labour’s official news site, Maltastar, has plunged in the Alexa rankings from 45 during the election campaign to 1,137 now, and only 18% of its traffic comes from Malta.

The site itself is no worse than it ever was (today’s top story: ‘PM: The Maltese are no simpletons’) but what remains of the staff have no idea how to operate when their role is no longer to attack, chastise and harangue the government.

When I read ‘fort’, I thought you were referring to the ‘fort’ of government.

For example, how can someone like Fredrick Azzopardi, with no experience in management, be appointed CEO of both WSC and Enemalta.

Each of the two posts are difficult positions to handle, even for experienced managers. And yet, PL government appoints the same inexperienced person to occupy both positions. It was unwise to appoint him CEO of one agency of vital importance, let alone two.

You wouldn’t think he really believes that, given how he has handled the citizenship scheme.

Now that you mention it, it’s good to visit Maltastar now and then. I always find something to make me smile.

This bit, for example: “The student claimed that another student had hit him in the face by another female student in front of her father. The student was not injured and no vandalism reports were filed.”
