The case involving Mr. Dalli was the biggest scandal to hit the commission since 1999, when the entire European Commission led by Jacques Santer, a former prime minister of Luxembourg, was forced to resign over allegations of fraud and mismanagement against some of his commissioners.

We have to constantly remind the government that John Dalli is still under investigation. John Dalli had a golden opportunity to proof his innocence in court. But Joseph Muscat and the Police Commissioner Peter Paul Zammit thought otherwise.
