Face-cream distributor and head of the national task force for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2015, Phyllis Muscat, flew back to Malta from London Heathrow last night with Josette Hamilton Grech, Xandir Malta 1980s/Labour Party TV 1990s to present permanent fixture and wife of Malta’s High Commissioner in London, Xandir Malta 1980s/Labour Party TV 1990s to present permanent fixture, septuagenarian Norman Hamilton.

Oh yes, and they flew club class together because they weren’t paying and in their position they can’t possibly travel cattle-class with all those plebeians.

UPDATED:

It turns out that Phyllis Muscat wasn’t in club class because her strenuous efforts at trying to get an upgrade didn’t work. So she sat in the first row just behind the curtain instead.

Here’s an eyewitness account.

Yes I was on the flight and Mrs Muscat was very upset not to be able to sit in Club Class though. She had to sit closest possible instead – they let her sit first row behind the curtain.

Something was curious though. Are Mr Zammit Tabona and Mrs Hamilton ashamed to talk in public? They stay metres apart.

Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Muscat spent time sitting down together in the waiting area but when boarding started Mrs Hamilton joined those boarding Club Class and Mrs Muscat stayed put sitting down.

She tried to lobby with the cabin crew to let her sit in Club Class with Mrs Hamilton but to no avail. She tried to wrangle herself in but ended up sitting outside behind the curtain, looking flustered.

Labour deputy leader Toni Abela was there too.

Animal Farm, and the pigs fly club class on taxpayers’ money.

  3. TROY says:

If they don’t get the money from the sale of Maltese citizenship, Labour is in deep sh*t.

How the hell will they be able to pay Phyllis and the likes of her if they don’t get this money?

What could Mr Zammit Tabona and Mrs Hamilton possibly have to say to each other?

Maltese song festivals are hardly Zammit Tabona’s thing.

There’s something that always amazes me about people like Phyllis Muscat. It as if they can never lose the habit of trying to scrounge something for free despite being able to pay for it.

If she wanted a club class seat, why on earth didn’t she pay for one? It’s not as though she can’t afford to.

When I want club class, I either pay for it or ask to be upgraded through my fly pass points

We really are trying hard to climb the social ladder are we not. But as the saying goes, ‘min jitwieled tond ma jmutx kwadru’. They will never quite get the knack of things and persist in making utter fools of themselves in the process.

Can someone tell me the difference in price for a flight from UK to Malta between club class and economy?

Phyllis Muscat should have tried the “Do you know who I am ?” line. It works.

Surely Toni Abela should have been flying Club Class – labour-party-club class in fact.

For what it’s worth, Marlene Mizzi was on the Air Malta flight back from Istanbul yesterday. She was travelling alone in club class, wearing a ghastly white shell-suit. I can only speculate that her choice of attire was some sort of personal tribute to the late, great Sir James Savile.

Ambassadors, still less their spouses, are not entitled to travel in business class except when travelling at the start of a post or upon completion of their term. Could we have a PQ about this please?
