This Department of Information release just has to be billed Top Photo of the Day. Here we have Malta’s culture boss Jose Herrera and his communications man, Charlon Gouder, examining a chocolate galleon after dismissing the Arts and Culture Council CEO from her post.
Mr Gouder seems particularly engaged. Perhaps he has now gone home and, suitably fired up with inspiration, is whiling away the rainy afternoon building one out of Lego bricks.

Not the right people to allow near a chocolate structure. Remember “they’re red hot” (or so they would like to think).
A ship of fools. How appropriate.
Charlon loved it because it reminds him of Albertown – it’s nostalgia.
Not chocolate hobnob, surely? Oh dear.
You can ask the ladies in waiting in Albert town, Marsa about ”red hot” Gouder.

What is that Nuxellina doing there behind Herrera? Is she slated for some executive post along with the garden gnome?
X’vavati dawn jahasra.
Did he hang on to his wallet?
Is that a mermaid or Nuxellina in the background?
Ahi serva Italia, di dolore ostello,
nave sanza nocchiere in gran tempesta,
non donna di province, ma bordello!
(Dante, La Divina Commedia, Prgatorio VI, 76-78)
O Italy, you slave, you inn of grief,
ship without helmsman in a mighty tempest,
mistress, not of provinces, but of a brothel!
Forget all about Italy … and think, alas, of Malta’s woes!
