Forget the Old Edwardians, this is a message for my former classmates

We’re having a Christmas party (30 years on), with husbands and boyfriends/girlfriends – please don’t say partner within earshot – because rooms full of women are just too much.
It’s going to be at somebody’s house so that you’re not stuck sitting next to the same two people in a restaurant, and you just have to bring a bottle of wine. We’ll do the catering.
So if you were in either class of the fifth form at St Dorothy’s Convent in December 1979/January 1980 and want to join in (majtezwel) post a comment here – I’ll keep it private. Otherwise just email me at [email protected] or ring me on 9949 3545.
It’s on 30 December.

‘Pedisrian dies after being hit by car’
Pedisrian what? Do they mean pedestrian?
I can only reply via Withnail:
“Scrubbers! Scrubbers!…. Little tarts, they love it.”
I cant help but feel that after being through every single comment over the last 10 days … the words ‘ I told you so daphne’ are coming to mind. Daphne, in a very diplomatic manner, taken from a very diplomatic person, I would advise you to change course , and start commenting on good articles ( like you are good at ) and leave this one to be. And for the record , I did not find one positive comment with regards to your writing techinques. Happy Blogging ;)
Far be it from me to intrude on a meeting of a gaggle of schoolgirls (oh, the fantasies) but what, in the name of all that’s beautiful, is “Joe Borg” on about?
Joe, what if Daphne doesn’t take your advice? What would be the, ahem, “consequences”?
Daphne, you appear to be attracting a lengthening list of loonies. Good stuff. Adds to the amusement and entertainment.
Nice picture. Although I don’t remember St Dorothy girls dressed like that.
I was at St Dorothy’s and I don’t remember them dressed like that either….
Are you sure this picture was not taken at St. Trinian’s?
[Daphne – Yes, it was.]
sis will be over from dec 18 – dec 26.
Arrigo jista joqghod jilghab il-bocci fejn qieghed:
“Asked to describe Mount Carmel’s forensic unit, sources who frequent the hospital said it was “completely different to prison” and provided a “more relaxed atmosphere”.
They said the unit was at the back of the hospital grounds, was surrounded by fields and had a view of Mdina.
The unit has an open space with trees and benches where family members visiting prisoners can spend their time with their loved ones. It also has a small games room with a billiard table.” http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20091128/local/arrigo-suffering-from-depression
Absolutely spot-on editorial in The Sunday Times which expresses the thoughts and feelings of all decent Maltese.
Now it appears that our disgraced ex chief justice will be appealing last week’s sentence in the hope of getting away with some loophole or cavil in the law. It seems that all his remaining friends (if any !) have rallied round and are calling him “miskin” when the “msieken” are those drug addicts and their families, victims of the convicted drug trafficker who bribed him.
Now can any enterprising investigative reporter ask the Minister of Justice or the Director of the Corradino Correctional Facility how many inmates are suffering from depression and other medical conditions but are still held at Corradino – and can he publish a list of Corradino inmates held at Mount Carmel Mental Hospital?
If and when this list is published, the public will be surprised and outraged at some of the names on it. All in the name of transparency and freedom of information.
Does the right to information extend to the right to know about the ailments of those particular individuals who are currently serving time at CCF? Don’t they have a right to privacy? Or is the right to satisfy one’s curiosity limitless?
Like somebody mentioned recently. It’s because you call a spade a spade that puts others off. I think you’re simply the best. We love your writings.
I love that ‘majtezwel’ expression!
