This is what they don’t want us to see.

Capitalism as an excuse for corruption, institutionalised slavery, the displacement of millions and the concentration of untold wealth and power in the hands of a new elite as the remaining 800 million in rural provinces reach the verge of another revolution.

Whatever happened to Joseph’s, make that Manuel’s news agency?

The government’s ‘agenda setting rights’, chilling concept – state formalised doubt and sanctioned revisionism of democracy.

Echoes of “Let us rein in the media.”

  3. Mr Meritocracy says:

How liberal and progressive, to use two words that the PL are so comfortable with.

  4. Joe Fenech says:

In Malta many journalists take it for granted that the media should be controlled which is why it is controlled in the first place.

  5. Gaetano Pace says:

I have been following the Chinese scene for decades. I have heard their leaders` views about the “Divine” rights they have to pollute the air because the west did it before them.

I have followed their opinion abour journalism, freedom of speech and their policy of regional supervision by party thugs.

Their “education” policy that is indoctrinating convicted persons serving terms in prison.

Then I also followed the suffering of the poor people who at times could not afford a bite to eat. ALL IN ALL it is most appalling and disgusting seeing the fatter pigs in the farm treating the others as scum. Their aspirations to power are beyond imagination, though silently executed.

  6. La Redoute says:

Chinese troops killing Tibetan pilgrims – BBC was banned from China for reporting this story. Recordings have been repeatedly purged from Youtube and are no longer visible in China.

  7. Borromini says:

I think we should ask Reno Calleja’s opinion about this

    • It-Tezi ta' Mario says:

Why? We already know that he agrees.

    • ciccio says:

He can’t read the article. He’s got China in his eyes.

      http://daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2011/03/china-in-his-eyes/

“Unlike the United States who accumulated enormous wealth and power on the blood of the millions of African slaves, China is expanding and gaining economic strength without waging war or attacking other nations.”

Reno, China does not need to attack other nations. It attacks its own people, their fundamental human rights, their dignity. And with the money they make off their own people, they buy off other nations…

    In the US:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10512559/New-York-Times-warns-China-is-subjecting-foreign-journalists-to-serious-harassment.html

“The Chinese government is subjecting foreign journalists to the most serious levels of harassment “in years”, the New York Times warned last night, amid a growing diplomatic row over Beijing’s attempts to stifle reports into the financial affairs of top Communist Party leaders…”

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/10496870/Joe-Biden-criticises-Chinas-treatment-of-US-journalists.html

“US Vice President Joe Biden cast a spotlight on the lack of press freedoms in China on Thursday as he met with US journalists working in Beijing after publicly criticising how they’re treated by China’s government.

Closing a two-day trip to Beijing, Mr Biden listened to concerns from journalists who may be forced to leave China in what some have perceived as retaliation for stories that have reflected poorly on the government. US news organizations have warned China’s actions could have a chilling effect on hard-hitting journalism and the ability for American reporters to operate in the country… ”

    Meanwhile, in Malta:

    http://www.independent.com.mt/articles/2013-11-29/news/minister-mallia-opens-xinhua-news-agency-bureau-in-malta-3334340608/

“Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia today opened the Xinhua News Agency Bureau in Malta. “The establishment of this bureau clearly demonstrates that notwithstanding the geographical distance separating our two countries, there are many areas of cooperation that are possible within the very good relationship that exists between Malta and China,” the minister said.”

    • Francis Saliba M.D. says:

And Xinhua has just announced that China will be carrying spot checks on the personal and family assets, hidden wealth, personal and family incomes of officials of the Chinese ruling Communist Party.

Somehow I do not believe that there is any connection between that Xinhua news item and the opening of its Malta News Agency Bureau by our Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia.

      • ciccio says:

So did Xinhua say whether the Chinese government will be looking under the mattresses of the Chinese Cabinet Ministers?

      • Francis Saliba M.D. says:

        @ Ciccio

If the Chinese secret service lays its hands on some IIP Malta passports they may even succeed to look under the mattresses of Maltese cabinet ministers.
