I can’t help being sceptical about this

He’s been discharged from hospital already

Times of Malta reports today that Erin Stewart Tanti has been discharged from hospital. Amazing, isn’t it? The man jumps off a cliff supposedly while under the influence and he spends less than a week in hospital. Is this a miracle, or what?

Well, that makes a mockery of all those individuals writing here and all over Facebook about poor Erin dying in the intensive care unit while all we mean and horrid people tear him to shreds for what he did.

He’s now undergoing psychological evaluation, the police told Times of Malta. Forgive me for pointing this out, but shouldn’t that have happened a long time ago?

My gut feeling tells me that this pervert is going to walk free. After all, he went to Jo’s for a meeting so he’s in. Dalli got away with it; this guy will too.

  2. justshocked says:

Exactly! I suspect the reason he was in ITU was not so much his injuries but more so that he could be kept a very close eye on. Just wanted to add I find you, Daphne, a breath of fresh air in Malta.

    • curious says:

When the rescuers found Tanti, he was able to talk to them.

His sister wrote on Facebook that he wishes to be left alone. Therefore he communicated with her.

He is out of hospital, straight from the ITU ward and this after an alleged attempted suicide by jumping off Dingli Cliffs.

This must be one major miracle.

      • Grezz says:

He was found on a boulder metres away from the cliff edge. I’m not quite convinced he fell from that height.

  3. Benny Hill says:

I do not think Erin Stewart Tanti is going to pay the price he ought to pay for what he did. He’s probably been advised to say very little to the police.

The police have to rely on any evidence they can gather.

What we do know is that he drove a minor up to Dingli Cliffs. We have no proof that he encouraged her to commit suicide. He could argue that they went there to talk, that she suddenly jumped, and that he jumped after her.

The police only have circumstantial evidence – the pills, the whisky, the time of night they were there, the fact that she’s dead from a fall, and the fact that she’s a minor and he’s her teacher.

There could perhaps have been text or Facebook messages which the two could have sent to each other, which could be used to bolster the police’s case.

Of course, he can be found guilty of lesser crimes. But I don’t think it’s going to be easy proving the big one.

  4. T. Cassar says:

Now please stop and think for a few minutes: a person who needs the intensive therapy unit needs one-to-one attention with the help of monitoring etc.

Common sense tells you that such a person would need to go to a regular ward when he does not need one-to-one care and then when he is better he is discharged unless there is some miracle with instant healing.

So it follows that either a. this person was not in ITU, b. was not discharged from ITU or c. was not being kept in ITU because he needed to but for other non-medical reasons, like security.

Now the next question is: if the person was well enough to be discharged, why was the psychiatric assessment not done before discharge as is the norm, more so when self harm might have been an issue?

Mater Dei Hospital has a psychiatric ward especially for situations like these.

  5. observer says:

We all know that Mater Dei Hospital is terribly overcrowded, don’t we.

  6. Ruth says:

I trust there will be police to keep him away from the funeral tomorrow.

  7. Feminist says:

How long do we have to wait until he posts some nauseating, poorly written apologia somewhere online?

You know he would. In place of a conscience and a moral compass this man has a huge ego and a severe Narcissistic Complex.

I think he has Peter Pan syndrome.

In the meantime a 15 year old girl is dead. Someone has to answer to this. Her parents demand to know.

This man was in her company up to her last moments. He is fully responsible, no matter what.

  9. davidg says:

Don’t tell me he fell 40 metres, survived, and was out of hospital in less than a week.

  10. Celtic Girl says:

There is something terribly fishy about all of this. That poor girl is dead and can’t tell us what he did. He is free to lie about it all. I get the feeling that this guy is a self-serving conniver, although I do think he is unstable in some sort of way.

  11. Banana Republic .... again says:

The police report stated that he was NOT found where the girl fell and that his fall was broken.

I assume he jumped elsewhere safer so as not to die but to pretend he did try.

  12. ACD says:

In an ideal situation, someone who is suicidal should receive a psychiatric review prior to discharge to establish whether he needs admission to a specialist psychiatric unit and, if not, so that his needs in the community can be assessed.

It would be bloody embarrassing for the discharging doctor if they didn’t get a psychiatric review and Tanti did something else, wouldn’t it?

  15. socrates says:

I am still baffled by three facts: the fact that St Michael Foundation are obviously shirking their responsibility for the employment of Erin; the attitude of the Minister of Education, who is more concerned about the implementation of his so called ‘reforms’, rather than seeking to put basics in place; and, the silence of so many on such an important subject.

He is at Mount Carmel hospital at the seclusion ward. No police supervsion.

Ian, if you cannot see what is wrong, you must be as heartless and shameless as they are.

Do you honestly think it’s all right to put up a ‘funny’ photo of yourself on Facebook when your brother’s 15 year old victim hasn’t even been buried?

And there were people commenting that the family is going through a bad time and their feelings should be taken into consideration?

      • Victor says:

Sorry. I meant to post this comment under Sufa’s comment in reply to Ian.

    • Sufa says:

What a weird lot, I must say. With her brother’s victim still not yet buried, Enya Stewart Tanti, aged 18+ (lest someone say I am picking on a minor here) has been busy changing her Facebook profile picture today, pulling what she must think is a funny face. https://www.facebook.com/enya.tanti?fref=ts Sick.

  17. A.C. says:

If any of you went into his Facebook before he removed it, there was a picture of Spiderman behind bars saying “She said she was 18”.

Sums up this scumbag very well, don’t you think. I pray that justice will be done.

  18. Avici says:

On this one, I agree with you 100% . I think psychological profiles should be held for all teachers to be honest.

I also don’t agree that he’s ‘out on the streets’.
