What was the modelling brief here – 20-euro Reeperbahn hooker?

The Other Malta – absolutely fascinating. These are supposedly normal modelling shots, of young Maltese women trying hard to look sexy. Their idea of sexy is bondage, crawling, whips, the fierce look, growling, nets, leather (plestik), and of course, enough make-up to sink the LNG Capricorn.
Is this a reaction to so many Maltese men being camp, gay, fey or only interested in each other? Or is it the reason the men are that way?

Why didn’t they ask me? I have a great feather duster and polish – and I can do the grin face.
Artistic indeed.
It’s the Magrebo-Levantine female aesthetic. Trust me, I’ve lived among these people.
Trust me, I used to be one of them.
You’re very hairy on the upper lip for a hooker. Oh well, there’s a financial crisis on and we can’t be too choosy.
So true. BTW, that is not a moustache on my upper lip, I was taught to carefully let my eyebrows grow. Think some of my former competition in the pics used the same methodology.
I’m sure you’ll forgive this tongue-in-cheek, Baxxter: you’re getting there.
Trust me, the Maghrebo-Levantines have moved away from this. These women are as attractive as a tepid cup of tea. Rough is not the word.
Go to Lebanon now – many of the so-called French models in magazines and the fashion world come from there nowadays.
Ah, but you said it yourself. In French magazines and the French fashion world. In other words, it’s the photographer, the editor, the designer and the director who set the aesthetic. The models are just subjects. Beirut and Algiers look very much like Paceville on a Saturday night. And this goes for the men too. From the hair gel to the overtight shirts, to the souped-up cars, it’s all there.
Wot da hack?
Complete turn-offs. But they would definitely turn on your average Laburist, when he takes a break from shagging his car valentine, that is.
you are such a turn off yourself. and what is a car valentine?? your name isn’t cool just because it has a ‘z’ in it.
What’s your point exactly?
‘Facinating’ from an anthropological/sociological point of view but when one remembers that one is sometimes asked ‘where do you come from?’ then these images, being in the public domain, are not so amusing.
One must also remember that those who think of these images as mainstream, sexy, artistic and well-composed are also the ones who make up much of the electorate, which is chilling.
Ms. Marlene Mizzi has a pipeline of future clients for her store in Rabat. She is clever and has adequately catered for a niche market.
Rough as a vulture’s scrotum.
Artistic Image? hahahahahahahahahahaha
Is it MB Photography or MB Pornography?
MB is for mind boggling.
One of them is playing dead.
A tasteless bunch of hamallas directed by a bunch of hamalli…….priceless
Facebook is probably the worst thing to have happened to Maltese society since il-pesta
Onslow might have found them sexy – if they came with a six-pack of lager and a kilo of oily bacon and tomato flavour chips.
Good one! God (if he exists) bless his soul.
Yeah I can see the likes of Elite Model Agency and Elle magazine beating a path to MB Models’ door, whoever that agent might be.
He should be taken out, blindfolded, given a last faggie and shot for the crime of promoting tossers with bad art as a background.
Sit behind a desk and you know the world pathetic words of an unsecure person with issues
GROW UP
PS: one of those ladies is married 2 lovely children and is PROUD of her body
Well, if I were one of her children, I’d be dead embarrassed.
I dont know these people and have no connection with any of this, but man are we a country with the sweetest tongue ever !!!!!!!! seems like everyone has become a self proclaimed critic and eager to judge and tarnish others !!!!!!!! just live and let live !!!! dont forget that maybe one day your own daughters or grand-daughters might be the one posing there !!!!!
[Daphne – Oh, right. Good point. Because as we all know, these things can happen to anyone, and have nothing to do with any particular cohort.]
daniel,
No one’s judging you, except the ones you paid to of course.
Is it possible that the first hint of criticism sends you lot up the nearest wall?
So it’s about self-confidence, well this is the test is it?
L-aqwa li biz-zokra barra hijj. How low can they actually go? I hope they don’t think that they are at the epitome of class. I can take a quite accurate guess of the political party they support.
Oh I wouldn’t bet on that last bit. That’s the reason neither party can afford to alienate this voter segment.
There are some completely unnatural, grotesque poses here. And why on Earth so many girls think they can or should be photo-models never ceases to astound me.
Pushy parents maybe?
Unbelievable and no shame. I feel sorry for people like this, really, really sorry. It is a bad 70s mag gone totally wrong.
What is it with these tacky SLR-owners and their affinity towards abandoned buildings as location shoots?
These girls are looking wild. Maybe Silvio Zammit will engage them for the next circus activity to replace the tigers.
daphne im the girl in the last photo .a lady in swimwear not posing in a vulgar way, not using whips not trying to be anything im not its jut me in swimwear during a competition( its not a photoshoot) .if you dont like it fine, if you want to post it around fine, if you want to make fun of it fine. but i can assure you im no 20 eu hooker. its just a beauty pageant if you google around you’ll see things far worse than this that happen during beauty pageants worldwide. if i were you i would write about “toddlers in tiaras” cause i am deff. against that type of modelling. and considering you dont know the people you posted photos of i would mind my language, cause you can be the cause for wrecking someones life. you have the right to judge but not to make people feel like an earth worm!
wow how better can you manage to feel from your fellow men while being so ignorant.
You dont have any rights to publish these photos who the fuck do you think you are? We will see each other in court you bitch!
Actually if these were uploaded to Facebook they can be used anywhere, including by Facebook itself (didn’t you read the Facebook terms of use?).
Going to court is pointless. Nothing uploaded to Facebook is your copyright any longer. By uploading on Facebook, you cede your rights. So maybe get your facts straight before coming here, being vulgar and attacking people.
Jerry Springer time.
If they were so sure of themselves as to post them for the world to see on Facebook, then everyone has the right to comment/publish them wherever one pleases.
These are the kind of pics normal people keep tucked away in a drawer.
These are the kind of photos normal people would not have posed for in the first place.
Yeah, would be nice to see the magistrate going through those pictures in open court.
I’m sorry but first of all who gave you the right to drag inoccent peoples photos onto your blog ? u should be so ashamed of yourself . Before you start pin pointing and judging people make sure your own hands are clean ! If these girls wants to take photos and pose they should ! its none of business what they do and you sure as hell cannot tell them what to do . This is so childish of you , you should mow better then to make these girls life a livin hell . I dont know you but from what oeople say about you i think the maltese people its you who their ashammed of not you of them . every is entitled to what the want to do .
Once a photo is published on Facebook, the owner no longer has any rights over the content. It’s in the privacy policy of Facebook.. yes, really.
There are so many things wrong with the Malta ‘model industry’ I don’t even know where to begin.
I don’t know any other country where girls under 175cm can call themselves “models”.
The funny thing is that if you actually do fit the bill, it is difficult to find a modelling agency in Malta as the “agencies” are run by shady people themselves, and who only promote girls who they are friends with or friends with their mothers.
And these could mean girls anything like in the pictures above walking in some big fashions shows.
Then there is the non payment issue. Foreign models actually get paid. It is the Maltese “models” who are so desperate to model that they will work for free. This is reflected in the general pay for models (or the lack of it). I know a foreign model who is still waiting for her payment from Malta Fashion Awards one year after.
What’s the competition, Miss Maltart?
