Times of Malta reports:

When the officer went on site he found that a brown jacket had been found near her body. Inside were car keys, Mr Tanti’s passport and Virtu Ferries tickets.

As it stands, the real question is not how Tanti got down there, but how and why the jacket ended up near her body.

He had no choice. Not only does he appear to be a murderer and paedophile, he is an idiot too.

I am trying to imagine his panic when he realized that his jacket went down with her. However it is obvious from his injuries that he got down there from a path somewhere. Even though he said he jumped from a different angle, I wonder what his angle was.

I’ve been thinking about this and trying to work out why he went down there. The only conclusion I can come up with is that they probably argued for whatever reason, she threw it down the cliff and in a fit of rage he pushed her down the cliff.

Realising that he needed what was inside his jacket he climbed down to look for it, drunk and in the 4:00AM darkness. Whilst looking he probably slipped and fell from a small height causing the hairline fractures to his ribs.

That would explain the jacket situation and the fact that he barely had any injuries despite claiming that he jumped with her.

His ‘plan b’ was to retrieve the jacket with his car keys, ticket and what not and escape. His plan went wrong when he slipped or fell a small height injuring him just enough to make it impossible to leave the area. His ‘plan c’, lie and pretend he went down with her.

    What a creep.

Do they check IDs on the ferry to Sicily nowadays or does one just buy a ticket and board – like the Gozo ferry?

If so he was probably planning to take the ferry out of the country rather than a plane since at the airport a wanted person would be certain to be stopped.

As far as I know you provide your passport number when buying the tickets from Virtu Ferries and then upon boarding your passport and ticket are checked.

    C Mifsud, I agree.

C Falzon, yes, they check ID/passport.

The catamaran leaves port at 6:30am. Perfect timing, if only that jacket hadn’t ended up down there.

They said he took his British passport with him. Maybe he had a different name there too, which would maybe make it easier to leave the island?

Everything he did was calculated, but little did he know how different his two-act play would turn out, and not be the Perfect Murder he hoped it would be.

Let us pray that he won’t get away with it. Can he? Will he? Just the thought makes me shudder.
