What a very appropriate title: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prwWpwDGyeM

  2. Neville says:

Was this a business forum or a carnival party?

  3. Mario De Bono says:

No, it wasn’t a forum. Or a carnival party. It was a muccata hamallata, of people who buy their clothes from the stall at the monti which sells the cheapest and the loudest stuff.

The guy in the foreground is wearing a shirt that would not go amiss on a Caribbean beach. The one behind him is wearing a ‘topp’ that first saw daylight in 1980.

And Marlene is wearing some ‘blawz’ from another era. And Joe Mifsud, looking incongrous in a biznizz soot tan-nylon with a police shirt underneath, no tie (ghax progressiv it-tifel) and clapping away a la North Korean Party Congress brings up the rear.

Who are these people? They look like sleazy car dealers. Business forum my foot. This is because they tried to take over a business organisation, and failed miserably. So they set up one of their own instead.

    • Whoa, there! says:

Mario: Does your statement come on the GRTU letterhead? Was it endorsed by Vince? I thought not….

      • Mario De Bono says:

It doesn’t. But it’s a fact, and I don’t need any permission from anyone to say it, least of all from Vince. Political parties have no place in business organisations. Does not mean I don’t have my own views though.

      • Joe Micallef says:

What about being less of a coward and ready to give your name?

  4. Quack says:

Isn’t that summer clothing they’re all wearing? The paps are sending in blasts from the past!

  5. Leonard says:

    Borat’s sister throws a party.

    • Paul Bonnici says:

I think Borat is right behind them. With those cotumes, this photo would fit in nicely in a Borat scene.

Maybe Leyber are auditioning for another edition of Borat. That’s a good strategy to attract business to Malta.

  6. salvu says:

    jelousy gets you nowhere

    • Jack says:

Why would anyone be jealous of any of the people in the above photo?

    • La Redoute says:

Of course not. Why else would you be where you are? A good dictionary, however, will help you learn how to spell. And you might even discover the rules of grammar and punctuation.

  7. salvu says:

i am an LP supporter and very proud of it

    • Joe Micallef says:

What does LP stand for Salvu?

L’aktar Progressivi, L’anqas Progressivi, Lejn Progress, Le Progress, L’aqwa Pulcinnelati, L’aqwa Parties, L’ahjar Partit, L’aghar Partit, Let’s Party, Languising Party, Lame Party, Lagging Party, Lexicographical Party, Lax Party, Laxative Party, Limited Party, Lisping Party……

Sorry to ask but after ten wasted days discussing the shape and form of this party I still can’t make heads or tails.

    • Jack says:

Oh! I’m pretty certain that nobody here would have guessed so had you not said it outright.

Hey, everyone! Salvu’s a Labourite and proud of it!

    • La Redoute says:

As well you might be. There seems to be little other point to being a supporter of the PL.

  8. A Zammit says:

In three years’ time, we will be partying like Consie and Marlene: Partit Lambada.

  9. Stephen Forster says:

  11. Babel says:

I suppose this rules out another magistrate from presiding over your ‘defamation’ case.

  12. Cliff says:

The ELC special promotion is actually that what was available in the UK at £40 goes in Malta for €85. Do the math.

  13. Amused says:

You gotta hand it to Daphne – she DOES make my day and something tells me we ain’t seen nothing yet. This is just the Musumeci attack…. we have three more years of this…. and then the grand finale!

  14. John Schembri says:

For those who think that Musumeci stands some chance of being elected: Dr Peter Micallef had more personal votes than Mr Musumeci and the trend is that after the first or second preference voters tend to continue writing their preferences from top to bottom. Having said that, we know that Louis and Robert both come from Siggiewi. That is the only link I can see.

    Dalli, John PN 3757 Elected
    Galea, Louis PN 2865
    Micallef, Peter PN 1331 -1331
    Musumeci, Robert PN 983 -983
Puli, Clyde Michael PN 3556 Elected
    Zammit, Ninu PN 630 -630

  16. Twanny says:

She IS good-looking isn’t she? I can understand your angst.

[Daphne – Oh my dear, you really don’t know me.]

  17. Peter Vella says:

Just the thought that these people will be running the country in a couple of years time is enough to make me weep. With all the imperfections of this government in comparison with this lot they look like the government of Utopia. That’s why the PN have gotten so careless: they think that nobody in his right mind will vote for people like these, but how wrong they are!

  18. Anthony Farrugia says:

  19. Snoopy says:

Strange, but is only me that is seing too many Twannies and Toni’s reading your blog and all having the same thoughts and sentences?

It might be that Toni is the most common name in the land of the elves.

  20. Marc P says:

Hey Daphne! What about the cheeks? Rifatti?

  21. Jack says:

What the chavs don’t realise is that, by constantly hammering on about “il-middle class” (well, not exactly with that accent, but anyway), they are unspokenly insulting their own types.

  22. Marc P says:

Daph, I think Marlene is trying to create a pulita fashion symbol for Lejber seeing how ‘nonchalant and slanciata’ she makes herself to be. Note the ‘cheeks’….I’d say they ARE rifatti.

  23. Paul Bonnici says:

And look at her bright red nail varnish – so passe, so naff.

  24. V. Vella says:

Why is bright red nail varnish passe and naff? Have you ever checked out the Queen of Denmark’s nails?

  25. Nat says:

    Viva l-hammalli!

  26. Frans Borg says:

Maybe she should start selling Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog paraphernalia. She’d be bound to get stellar returns on investment. I’ll definitely buy one as long as one could order online and have it delivered to your doorstep.
