“The path is too far away,” said the officers

This comment has just been sent in by an eyewitness to yesterday’s incident at Selmun:
I was anchoring when the man fell over. When I called 112, I was put on hold for 5 minutes! Most probably others were calling too.
When the police arrived at the scene, three men who were on boats at Ras il-Mignuna had already climbed up the hill and were giving first aid to the man who had just fallen down.
The policemen were just staring down doing nothing. I shouted over to tell them that there was a path down the cliff about 70m away. One of them shouted back saying that it was too far away. So my wife replied, “Then let him die”.

I saw this policeman on the news yesterday and asked myself how can we have these type of obese people in our police force! What can he do in such circumstances. Apparently nothing but watch as scenes unfold.
Is he a sergeant too with those shiny epaulettes.
That policeman could have rolled down the hill. He would have found it easier.
Now imagine for a moment if it was the 70 year old ‘reserve’ policeman called back on duty and asked to walk 70 metres and then go down a steep path. Incredulous.
I’m a bit confused – don’t these people have mandatory health check-ups as in other countries?
Indeed, Katrin.
This is a Reuters report from 2012 about MET police in the UK.

I have witnessed sloths of bears (avoiding the rather derogatory word “pigs”) jogging up and down along the river.
I think that this policeman is from the catering section.Do not worry next year we will have youngish, physically fit and slim from the tourism section to assist.
Forsi ghandu xi kundizzjoni bhal Joe Grima.
Kundizzjoni cirkumferenzjali zgur.
Jekk hix akkumpanjata minn inerzja konsegwenzjali ma nafx.
X’aktarx li iva.
God help us.
Does this policeman have a reserved parking space like Grima?
He is an insult to his uniform. Ex Commission De Grey must be rolling in his grave.
