Malta Today reported last Wednesday that 5,333 parrots were imported into Malta last year.

Ah, but they don’t have the rest of the story. Those five thousand parrots were brought in by the Moviment tal-Progressivi and have been put to work posting comments on timesofmalta.com and Facebook.

Then in the afternoon they whip into the Maltastar offices and write the leading article and a couple of stories and blog-posts, and after that they whizz across to Super One and bang out the newscasters’ scripts.

Jason Micallef has been assigned the role of Keeper of the Leader’s Parrots. But sssshhhh! Don’t tell anyone.

    Whoa, there ! seems to be one of the imported parrots.
