Why is the prime minister retweeting trivia from an ageing Hugo’s Bar barmaid with bingo wings?

bingo wings

Not that the bingo wings are relevant, but it makes the image just that much more sordid. Should a prime minister be retweeting stuff like this?

What’s worrying is that it probably works with a population stuck permanently and pathologically in adolescent mode.

She’s a match reporter for Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports in the UK. JM must have been ecstatic that such a TV personality chose Malta for her holidays and felt the need to tell the world.

Ghax taf int, all the celebs come to Malta these days, heqq.

    So crass.

    A barmaid? I think she’s a Sky Sports journalist.

    [Daphne – My, how thrilling.]

Another item which is not “fl-interess tal-poplu” – LGA head’s car allowance a state secret –

I think we will be having loads of these so I suggest that you create a sub-heading, next to the archives, titled “Mhux fl-interess tal-poplu” so that we can follow all the stories that the government tries to hide from us.

According to Xinhuanet, the Chinese news agency, “Muscat is in China to attend the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference 2014 in Guiyang, capital of southwest China’s Guizhou Province, from July 10 to 12.”

The MOU between Malta and China is not given as the reason for Muscat’s visit.

The MOU is mentioned as a “medium term planning for governmental cooperation.” Nothing for the private sector then.

In the second picture, it looks like Muscat saw a cockroach on the Premier’s forehead.

Muscat was given the same treatment given to Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome. See pictures here:

According to the People’s Daily (English), Sergei Ivanov, Putin’s chief of staff, was welcomed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping today. Mr. Ivanov will be attending the Eco Forum with Joseph Muscat in Guiyang.

Despite being a prime minister and not a chief of staff, Muscat did not meet the Chinese president. Says a lot about the MOU signed today in Tienanmen Square. And about the ranking of Joseph Muscat in the Chinese scheme of things.

What is Kurt Farrugia doing – literally and figuratively – in the third picture?

And what is a member of parliament doing in a government delegation?

She’s a sport journalist for Sky Sports. I agree that he shouldn’t be re-tweeting this sort of thing but what was the point of that remark?

[Daphne – I have no interest in sport and never watch Sky, so the obvious conclusion given the context and her appearance was that she is a barmaid at Hugo’s.]
