GM20

These photographs were taken yesterday at around 12.30pm. That is the official government car used by José Herrera, Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness and Economic Growth.

The pictures were sent to me along with the following email:

I am attaching photos taken today (25th) at the university. I do not know to whom this car belongs. It was locked and unattended, parked on a double yellow line.

The security guard who was just a few metres away did not seem to mind it parked there, even though no other car could drive past without going partially onto the other side of the road and creating a dangerous situation.

What is the use of being a minister if you can’t do as you like?

  2. Nana says:

If justice has to be done the police should send him a ticket home. He is no bigger than anybody and he should give a example. What an idiot he is.

    • M says:

He is serving as an example, just not the example one would expect an upstanding, law abiding citizen, let alone a member of parliament, to be.

Every action has repercussions, this action is not neutral but tells everyone that might is right and thus the law of the jungle prevails in Malta.

We are also paying the driver and the security guard who it seems are basking in the rays of lawlessness.

    • Snoopy says:

That road is actually private, so no fine can be issued. On the other hand, my car has been clamped by the university (this can be done) just for parking, with a permit, but on a wrong parking spot. The security guard should have clamped or even better towed that car. But as usual, under this government, everyone is afraid to even hiss let alone bite.

Any police officer daring to book that car will be asking for a transfer. Il-huta z-zghira qatt ma kielet il-kbira.

That’s two yellow lines. Two yellow cards.

    • rjc says:

And a double white line in the middle of the road, forcing vehicles on that side of the road to break the law by crossing partially to the other side.

Speaking about economic growth, where’s Kookie Kurt lately?

  6. Banana Republic ...Again! says:

What I don’t understand is that this double yellow line parking doesn’t even benefit the minister in anyway.

It benefits the driver as he doesn’t need to look for a parking space.

What power do the ministers’ drivers have if minister’s aren’t even capable of delegating a parking task to them!

    The parKING

Suggested official car design for José Herrera to match his parking habits.

  8. G says:

There’s a parking spot reserved for VIPs just through the gateway. But then his driver would have bad to go through the whole ringroad – as opposed to a ‘ U-turn kif tidhol’.

  9. Niku says:

Dak jista hi, ghax PS! A lawyer who breaks the LAW, shame on you sur avukat.

  10. Wayne Hewitt says:

I think he insists on parking on double yellow lines, even when there is available legal space.

I guess it gives him a kick of omnipotence.
