While it is unfortunate that, yes, there is one party that has consistently brought benefits to this country, we do need to see a Labour Party that is really politically and strategically mature.
We cannot afford to support a party that is locked in some time warp when socialism and leftist propaganda was a real force to be reckoned with and, in many cases, despised and feared. There is certainly a need for maturity and professionalism here.
Only when the Nationalist Party comes clean of its fossils, of its ‘boys’, will it gain trust. This is beyond Dr. Busuttil alone. The PN fossils should have enough courage to regenerate the party and support all the efforts he is making.
It is not because of Dr. Busuttil that the party is in such a mess. It is because the party looked down on the electorate, pushing the electorate in the arms of the Labour hamallagni.
How can any country grow up if every challenge to the status quo is brought up short by blind patriotism?
Growing up means evaluating your choices, correcting anything that can be corrected and making new choices. A lot of bad choices have been made, and not all of them by Labour.
Ivan Fenech is correct in that the best choice since independence – EU membership – was made by the Nationalist Party.
However, I do not think that the Nationalist Party is intellectually equipped to make the crucial choices of the future, or to correct any of its bad choices. Neither is the Labour Party.

Took him darned long to see that, didn’t it.
Amen to that!
Finally, something sensible from the Times of Malta.
And this will transpire before we all kick the bucket? Sleep well, Ivan.

Just be grateful that Labour are not imposing Socialist policies.
