More trouble in paradise, I see

It seems every day brings fresh claims or evidence of corruption and cronyism across a wide variety of sectors. And this is just 20 months into their game.

Let them to it, they’ll be at each others’ throats guaranteed.
They always do.
Che casino.
From yacht marinas to casinos.
Can Maltese journalists stop this bauble-less reporting?
I seem to remember something similar with the ‘sale’ of the Dragonara Casino the last time they were in power? Anyone remember the details?
The ownership of the Dragonara casino has always attracted a colorful range of characters and dodgy goings on. In 1962 the Kursaal Company assumed ownership, that didn’t end very well and in 1964 a German Syndicate had ownership until 1984.
I do hope they get it right this time round – my grandfather was a regular.
[Daphne – And my grandfather was a director of the Kursaal Co Ltd so I can tell you that you’ve got your dates and information wrong. Kursaal opened the casino in 1964 and stayed until the inevitable trouble occurred with Mintoff many years later. There was no ‘German syndicate’.]
I can vouch for that. During the whole time of Kursaal Co Ltd involvement, the place was really classy with very high standards.
It only started going downhill, naturally so, when Mintoff appeared on the scene.
I worked at the Dragonara Casino from Dec. 1963 (during refurbishment) to Jan.2005. Christopher Camilleri (my brother in law ) was the first director of the Kursaal Co. I remember all the directors. Who was your grandfather, Daphne? Louis Vella, Philip Toledo or Baron Mario Testaferrata Moroni Viani? The others were all foreigners.
Regards, Arthur Brightwell
[Daphne – Louis Vella. I was born Daphne Vella.]
Louis Vella was a real gentleman. I forgot to mention Anthony Miceli Farrugia. Regards, Arthur
Well it seems Kevin’s sucking up paid off. There’s a name for people like him and it really isn’t pleasant .

“and this is just 20 months into their game” – that is what is so frightening. At this point it’s not a comedy of errors. It’s cosa nostra run by the current Maltese governing party.
Either there is a very long list of persons to be accommodated and Joseph Muscat has to hurry, or he hopes that people will forget the obscenities he is doing in the name of “Malta taghna lkoll” by the time of the next general election.
Kevin was at the counting hall for the PL in the last election so there is absolutely no doubt that he is now being rewarded for his help.
His brother Ian has forgotten how much he complained about the development close to his private residence. The contractor is none other than Sandro Chetcuti.
Now he holds press conferences to announce further expansion of his hotel and casino. Talk about double standards.
Hmieg kbir fil-pajjiz. Wara hames snin mama mia x’ha jkunu ghamlu?
Why has the Sicilian Mafia not been successful in penetrating the Maltese ‘market’?
Because we’re beating them at their own game.
Illegal immigration and corruption are akin. Illegal immigration starts with the first couple of individuals arriving clandestinely.
Then the waves of people follow. Corruption starts with the first apparently innocuous acts of back scratching, then it starts coming in bales and pails.
In both instances dirty money changes hands, in both instances abuse reigns supreme and in both instances there are the winners who dirty their hands with the money and the losers who drown in despair.
Now that Labour has settled in the Wonderland of corruption, some have found their Chinese Shangri La. But many have found out that they are in Dante`s hell.
Yes, I spotted Kevin at the counting hall as well.
