It’s not just on the streets that there’s been an increase in traffic

Published: November 19, 2014 at 11:54am

I’m pleased to report a high level of traffic on this website, too – the blog that nobody reads, written by somebody who must never be named unless absolutely necessary.

Well done Daphne, keep up the GOOD WORK.

  2. Drinu says:

Prosit. Dalwaqt jghidulek li statistika fazulla.

  3. ciccio says:

And the good news is that, unlike sitting in traffic on the congested roads of Joe Mizzi, you don’t burn Europe’s most expensive fuels to navigate on this website.

  4. Jozef says:

Tuesday 11th; Saviour Balzan, Keith Schembri, Silvio Scerri and bringing up the rear, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando.

Pity stats don’t come by gender.

  5. Kif inhi din? says:

Must be the page three effect of your Botticelli look-alike.

  6. George says:

Thank you for this blog. Keep it up.

  7. vic says:

    Great. And thank you.

  8. Jason King says:

    Keep up the good work!

You are the only one reporting the truth.

[Daphne – I most certainly am not. But a blog like this can provide the context and details because it is more flexible than a newspaper, whereas a newspaper has much greater resources and manpower for research, ringing around and so on.]

    • P Shaw says:

Daphne, you claim that you are not the only one telling the truth. I might disagree, but maybe we should rephrase the assertion and safely claim that this blog is the most credible and reputable blog/news site in Malta.

    • Jason King says:

      Sorry to say!!

But I think you at least have the most courage!!!

    • Don Camillo says:

The fact that so many people refer to your site in order to be updated with issues (apparent and non-apparent), places on you with a serious responsibility, which I am glad to say you never faltered.

Let it be known then, it takes sheer courage and stamina to maintain this site current and with so many scoops being made that it leaves all other journalists eons behind your wake.

      Full speed ahead milady.

  9. Gahan says:

No one reads that infamous blog of that woman.

  10. verita says:

Practically the whole of Malta visited the website on yesterday probably to view the PL electoral promise of a tanker with two domes the size of Mosta’s.

  11. Salvu says:

    Interesting to note the following:

    a. The Malta Independent has surpassed Malta Today.

    b. Your new Running Commentary is catching up fast on traffic lost when you were absent for the whole of September. You had gone down to position 60+. Now you are 16.

    c. The Nationalist Party’s news site Maltarightnow has moved into the top 25.

    d. The Labour Party’s news site Maltastar is ranked 500+.

  12. Persil says:

To tell you the truth whenever I am free I go to view your website. I learn of what is going on from you. Call it news or gossip, it is always interesting reading your blog. God bless you and your pen.

  13. Shame on you says:

When you dare and state the facts as they are without fear or favour, people will follow.

  14. Mila says:

I don’t know if you have a mental pending file where you put things that do not make sense until sooner or later an aha moment occurs, and you joint the dots, the piece of the puzzle fits and you can file the item away.

Well, many people do and these seemingly illogical issues would be left pending if it were not for your site.

In the month you were away, additional mental filing trays had to be acquired and the mental office was looking rather shabby.

Everyone was getting worried and undercurrents were surfacing. Dot-joining had all but come to a screeching halt.

Calls and messages asking ‘Anything new?’, ‘Is she back?’ had replaced the daily knowing nods and smiles of acknowledgment when answers to issues in discussion were found on your site.

Remember there are no tal-Gakketa Blu, no tan-Numri, no Ahna, ahna jew m’ahniex. It would all be but one-sided rhetoric if it were not for this site.

    • Pippa says:

      Prosit. Prosit. Prosit.

I miss you greatly when you’re away but I understand that you need your space.

Thanks for all that you’re doing.

  15. J Farrugia says:

    A job well done. Proset

  16. Tabatha White says:

    Excellent, Daphne.

    Thank you for your wisdom.

  17. Xidja says:

Well done, keep on exposing Labour and their minions for what they really are… all Malta is reading.

  18. Willy wonka says:

You’re the envy of every so-called journalist in Malta.

To use a now over-used cliche you’re most people’s first read, and that includes Joey and gang.

[Daphne – I’m not. I’m the first read for a big chunk and the second read for another big chunk. A lot of people come here after Times of Malta, The Malta Independent and Facebook, and a lot come here first and go there afterwards.]

  19. Wilson says:

There are a million and one TV/radio stations and no one has the balls to say it as it is.

So yes, a very well deserved congratulations. If people cannot see this site for what it is, they surely have issues with objectivity.

  20. Volley says:

Well done and I admire your gutsy character.

You never give up or let people intimidate you because you believe in your principles and stick to them – not like 3/4 of the Maltese population.

  21. Reporter says:

To avoid being called “fazulla”, I’d like to suggest you clarify that this new mechanism of going back to the main page each time one wants to read another post, does NOT contribute to the number of visits to the site.

In other words, that whether you press “NEXT” or “PREVIOUS”, or whether you go back to the main page, the number of visits to the site is not affected.

[Daphne – We all know that. There’s something odd about you that I can’t quite put my finger on. Your remarks are invariably double-edged. Whatever your problem is, I’d rather you came right out with it.]

    • Reporter says:

      What do you mean?

      • Reporter says:

Isn’t this guy saying the same thing I am saying? Why isn’t his comment double-edged?

[Daphne – Because you have a track record of double-edged comments and snide remarks, and he does not.]

        Ginu says:

        November 19, 2014 at 4:04 pm

Well very definitely well done though removing the older and newer tabs from the top helps to rank up the hits *wink*.

[Daphne – In fact, it does not. And my highest views per day figure was 385,000 – way before a month ago. Even when I was away for a month and posting nothing at all, views per day averaged 50,000 – with not a single new post in 30 days.]

      • Reporter says:

        That hurts my feelings.

  22. Wow says:

I guess that The Malta Independent saw some increase.

[Daphne – Yes, a great deal.]

  23. tinnat says:

    Well done, Daphne.

Your post on whale-watching certainly attracted some new viewers.

  24. Paul Borg says:

    Well done, Daphne.

Good to have people like you reporting on what others purposely and maliciously ignore.

  25. kjd says:

    No preceptions here!

  26. kjd says:

    No perceptions here!

  27. PWG says:

Hope it’s not the ‘porn’ effect.

[Daphne – No, it’s not. Strangely enough, among the top traffic drivers these last few days were those two photographs of the chairman of the Malta Council of Science and Technology looking like a loser at The Alley (Reloaded). But there’s been a general upswing in Facebook sharing and linking of most posts.]

  28. Spock says:

If it weren’t for you, your courage and your blog, life on this rock would be completely intolerable. You keep us sane and focused on what really matters. Thanks.

  29. WhoamI? says:

    Perception once again

  30. Zahra says:

Well done and thanks for all the information, Daphne

  32. Ruth says:

Like I’ve said many times before, I don’t read any other news source or newspaper stories online unless you link something. I always come here to learn about the latest, truthful news.

Well done and keep up the good work.

  33. Mario Vella says:

You are doing a great job. Keep it up. Thank you

    • J. Aquilina says:

You’re missing out on the latest, Jozef, it seems – a ministerial car was allegedly involved in an accident tonight, and the minister’s driver fired two shots.

Yes, it seems that one of our government ministers is being driven around by an armed chauffeur, who, upon being involved (or nearly involved) in an accident, deemed it fit to get out of his car and fire at the other driver. What has this country come to, I wonder?

  34. can you quote the amount of ‘unique’ visitors daily and not the pageviews?

because the pageviews are bound to be impressive for any site.

[Daphne – No, page views are not impressive for any site, let alone ‘bound to be’. If that were the case, there would be no rankings because everyone would be crowded at the same level. Don’t try to minimise other people’s achievements.]

  35. Ginu says:

Well very definitely well done though removing the older and newer tabs from the top helps to rank up the hits *wink*.

[Daphne – In fact, it does not. And my highest views per day figure was 385,000 – way before a month ago. Even when I was away for a month and posting nothing at all, views per day averaged 50,000 – with not a single new post in 30 days.]

  36. CM says:

Well done, Daphne. Keep it up. Your courage is greatly admired by one and all.

  37. canon says:

We feel extremely obliged for what you’re doing.

  38. helen says:

Thanks to the Desert Princess :)

  39. If only such a following were to be translated into more responsible behaviour by the leaders of our society, political and otherwise, and a more responsible choice by the electorate.

  40. taghna biss says:

Your blog does a better job than the Opposition is actually doing sadly enough.

  41. Brian Sinclair says:

You know what? This is bad news because it is obvious that you are the ONLY ONE to come up with the juice, so we all rush to read your blog.

    You have the proverbial b*lls.

    Well done.

  42. SEO Malta says:

    Well done.. keep it up!

  43. thealley says:

I would have accompanied this post with that photo of someone from the Labour camp (don’t remember who) reading your blog during some important meeting.

  44. Augustus says:

    Congratulations Daphne, you’re the best.

  45. Jozef says:

The usual suspects seem to imply this number of views can’t be possible.

Maybe they should try to imagine how it’s done instead: viewers primarily expect respect, which is why they’re here.

Is it so difficult to understand? And yes, the Maltese are interested in what happens to their country.

  46. johannes says:

Congratulations, Daphne – you`re the best – well done – keep it up.

  47. SEOing says:

I hope that the figures you are reporting are coming for a pre-configured Google Analytics account on your website .. otherwise unfortunately they are incorrect .. unfortunately sites like Alexa, Compete, Google Trends, Doubleclick & Quantcast give us the most incomplete and the most inaccurate data that we want .. ..

[Daphne – You people can be so boring about these matters. Of course they come from my website. I run it, remember? I have access through the backdoor. ‘Stupid woman doesn’t know how to read website stats – man must ask her whether she is doing it right and then explain how to do it even before she answers.’]

  48. Paul says:

You are not great you are the GREATEST

  49. Vera Verita says:

This is so great Daphne, really acknowledged by a high positive energy!

  50. mandingo says:

    Way to go, Daph.

  51. Lorry says:

    Prosit Daphne! Keep it up

  52. maximus says:

Prosit, Daphne. Il-kap ta’l-istatistika ghandu post garantit. Anzi ghamlu suldat ta’l-azzar. Prosit tassew. Keep up the excellent work.

  53. Honest says:

Prosit, Daphne, kompli sejra hekk. Il-verita minghandek qed inkunu nafuha.

  54. Eddie says:

Although I only very rarely post the odd comment, I am an avid reader of your ‘Commentary’. It is the main source of my news – I start with it in the morning, visit it several times a day and is the last thing I read before switching of my PC late at night.

I am in agreement with practically all of what you write, but irrespective of this, it is not only really good to have someone who finds the time and makes the effort to put pen to paper, so to speak, about what is happening, and free of charge for us readers (I am sure not so for yourself), but also of the high quality material it contains. Thank you immensely for that.

I also appreciate the comments of your readers, which are essential, making the blog a living thing and not just a passive narration of events.

However, I am frustrated at the end of practically every day, because, although so many ‘normally’ unacceptable and even illegal and illicit things happen in this country of ours, I have the feeling that nothing seems to matter to many if not most of the people out there; these things are becoming the norm and there is practically no or hardly any reaction to them.

There seems to be a general complacency and apathy all around, if not ‘addiritura’ a liking and even an attraction to such things. I am really very saddened by this.

This is why your blog is so important – without it and a very few other sources, there would not be a snapshot of reality but only just a fantasy, initially very cleverly construed and sold to the electorate, but which now has become so blatantly false.

Your commentary says it as it really is! And these numbers show that there might be hope after all.

So, keep it up and thank you.

  55. Gee Dee says:

It is a universally acknowledged truth in Malta that if you really want to know what is happening you HAVE to read this blog. And numbers show it.

Con Rat showed it by stupidly rushing to open libel proceedings and file a police report.

And not happy enough with that, he opened up the DOI over the weekend to limit the damage and instead made it much worse.

On my part, thank you for keeping us informed and standing up for us in this country full of cowards and ass-lickers.

  56. orapronobis says:

Another standing ovation for you for just saying it as it is. Indeed, not all is lost!

  57. TinaB says:

    Excellent!

Keep it up, Daphne, the country needs you.

  58. Mary says:

Hi Daphne, well done. You deserve it. I’m lost when you take your holidays.

I like the style you write in and you say it the way it is. Keep it up.

  59. nadia says:

Well done to Daphne, because truly this is where to get the story behind what the newspapers report, or kind of report.

  60. joseph says:

have you ever considered running for office you should

    [Daphne – Not interested, no.]

  61. hmm says:

Well done, it truly shows that your pieces are not only well penned but that they constitute news.

  62. The Observer says:

No wonder, this is the only place we get real news of substance! Thank you Daphne.

  63. J Abela says:

People have to get news from somewhere. Where better other than here?

  64. Werzieq says:

Well done for giving us real news.

  65. silvio Farrugia says:

That is why they hate you because in spite of them you are popular.

You are also one of the very few in Malta who has guts and who sticks her neck out.

  66. Conservative says:

Mrs. Caruana Galizia, thank you for the service you give our country, and for keeping the flame of zeal for democracy alive. Please accept my very highest sentiments of esteem.

  67. J. Agius says:

Good on you Daphne! Well done!
