The BBC reporter should have went to the Mallia residence to interview this modern knight in shining armour.

So will trigger-happy PC 533 Paul Sheehan still be on normal Manuel Mallia driving duties carrying his Glock (or whatever) this Thursday morning ?
Yes, and he will be doubly armed in case of highly dangerous flying Scotsmen.
Was the driver using a police issue gun or a privately owned weapon?
“The Home Affairs Minister’s driver fired two warning shots in the air this evening as a British driver hit the parked ministerial car and sped off, according to a government spokesman.”

So, Sheehan was at his mother’s house and the car was parked. He must have heard a noise and went out to check what happened.
Therefore it is not possible that Smith hit the car and sped off. How did Sheehan catch up with him with the former getting out of the car to talk to him. And this, according to eyewitnesses.
Also, the damage was not considerable if Sheehan was able to get into that car and drive after Sheehan.
Can we also know who the government spokesman is, please, who gave these ‘details’.
Please note and console yourselves.
It is the Hon. Minister jacket buttons that seem to be in imminent danger of popping off not any guns in his hand.
Careful, because you will be giving them just the excuse they are looking for: it was the Minister’s jacket button that did it.
Gvern tal-in-gun.
Very appropriate, Ciccio.
I hope the British High Commission is on the ball and protecting rights of its citizen at Police Headquarters.
Malta Today published a close up photo of the bullet hole in the rear brake light.

If you cannot hide it, show it!
That’s the Minister’s official car. No bullet holes there.
