They’ve hidden Silvio Scerri and replaced him with Kurt Farrugia

Published: November 20, 2014 at 2:28pm

And how inappropriate this is. They really haven’t a clue. Instead of describing his protection officer/driver’s behaviour as unacceptable in the norms of law-abiding human decency, he tries to excuse him – which is not his way of defending him, but his way of defending his choice of him. Manuel Mallia is not defending Paul Sheehan. He is defending himself.

At least they had the good sense to understand that the last person they needed at that table is Silvio Scerri.

      Apparently criticizing what happened means:

      a) you’re sucking up to foreigners;

      b) frustrated because Labour is in government and/or;

      c) how would you like it if someone smashed into your car and sped off?

It’s no wonder I’m becoming more antisocial.

      • Kevin says:

        (a) Non sequitur. The police are there to protect and serve members of the community and tourists. If you were a victim of a crime in a foreign democracy, you would expect the police to help.

        (b) Yes, we are frustrated that Labour is in government because it promised a greater degree of competence but proved to be completely inept. And, the real issue is that in a representative democracy MPs serve the electorate and not the other way around.

        (c) Non sequitur. Someone has sped off after smashing into my car on a couple of occasions. That does not mean I take out my gun and shoot at hiim. If that happened I’d be arrested for attempted murder even if I lie and say it was simply a warning shot. Should a policeman who was out of uniform and who failed to identify himself be given any special privilege?

      • H. Prynne says:

        Um… thank you.

I know all that but it’s a waste of time arguing with idiots.

      • observer says:

As you said, Prynne, it is a waste of time arguing with idiots. I’m afraid Kevin has done just that!

Let’s be positive. All this stress and tension might cause him to lose a bit of that massive weight he’s accumulated since March 2013.

Did they put a cushion under Kurt? He looks taller than usual.

Warning shots, pity the car was in the way. Bloody photographers.

I see Saviour is still repulsed by violence.

Will someone tell us who was responsible for the Ministry’s GIDBA FAHXIJA press release issued yesterday right after the incident.

Another 1980s style frame up / cover up.

And by the way, for Pete’s sake, show us that beer bottle. And no not a similar bottle, but that particular bottle. We know the tricks by now no?

With time Kurt Farrugia is resembling more and more a modern Oompa Loompa.

Whilst all this is happening, Marlene Mizzi is busy tweeting on how great it is that Fra Mudest was chosen as Malta’s character for The European Fairy Tale Route.

  12. just me says:

The driver was suspended. He should be arrested for attempted murder.

  13. watchful eye says:

This is a terrible incident of road rage, involving a man with a weapon.

Is this what Manuel Mallia is protecting when he describes his driver as a quiet man.

  14. Charly says:

    Minister Mallia go to HELL.

  15. Newman says:

They should investigate whoever was involved in issuing Government’s press release yesterday night. It was nothing short of a cover-up.

    • Makjavel says:

When they are lucky enough not to have witnesses, they turn the story upside down: in this case, before they realised there are eyewitnesses, they made up a story of a drunken Scotsman with a beer bottle who crashed into the minister’s car and sped off.

The minister’s driver defended himself against an escaping car by shooting at its tail-lights.

  16. fenek says:

Wasn’t the driver cleared by the Malta Security Service before he was appointed the minister’s driver and since when are ministers’ drivers armed?

  18. T. Cassar says:

This minister has been protecting and defending criminals all his life. He knows nothing else.

  19. Joseph Muscat says:

Minister Manuel Mallia looks like a typical bloated frog.

  20. carlos says:

Missu xuffier tal-karozza l-ohra kien Owen Bonnici b’xi Janice mieghu. Kien jisparalu ukoll?

  21. C Cassar says:

The statement that security drivers are armed is simply false. I know a security driver under PN. It states black on white on his card that he was a security driver. He told me he never carried a gun.

  22. ron says:

Minister Mallia said that he knows the driver as a “quiet man”. If he weren’t a quiet man what would he have done?

  23. frank says:

In short, is he saying that waving a gun about and using it is excusable in case of a road accident? Because in that case, using the buses actually seems like a safe option.

  24. poker says:

Kurt Farrugia’s body language showed that he wasn’t comfortable being there. Hmm rather interesting.
