Be careful, Daphne – he might be inspired to do that to you. Ilek xewka f’sormu.

  3. Issa Daqshekk says:

Turkey’s Erdogan was reported on international news of having done just that. He clamped down on all journalists perceived to be hobnobbing with the Opposition.

Will Prime minister Muscat honour President Erdogan with a Gieh ir-Repubblika next year for his laudable efforts at promoting Free Speech in one of the most troubled regions in the world?

Daphne, if Malta wasn’t exposed due to its EU membership, your fate would be a similar one.

    • Spagu says:

I would agree….true…..One of the few advantages of membership.

      • Benny Hill says:

One of the few advantages? So the almost 1 billion euros in funds which Maltese received aren’t an enormous advantage of membership?

Or the fact that Maltese people can work and live in other EU countries with enormous ease?

Had Malta not joined the EU, we would have been doomed. It’s the best thing Malta ever did, and Eddie Fenech Adami is Malta’s true saviour.

Khadija Ismayilova is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists: http://www.icij.org/blog/2014/12/icij-calls-immediate-release-arrested-azeri-reporter

The initial reaction to ICIJ’s exposure of the Aliyevs’ offshore accounts: “I regret that authority of Press Council doesn’t go beyond Azerbaijan and there is no such institution worldwide to fight racketeer journalists.” http://www.icij.org/blog/2013/04/release-offshore-records-draws-worldwide-response

  6. “Ma’ min rajtek, xebbahtek”.

Perhaps the English equivalent to this Maltese proverb is “Birds of a feather flock together”.
