When Giovanni Kessler was asked to identify Silvio Zammit in court this morning, and did so by pointing at him, Zammit flipped him the bird.

Yes, in court.

That shows you what sort of person we’re dealing with here. People who don’t know what sort Silvio Zammit is – a petty fixer from Sliema’s Lazy Corner – really have no idea of the scale of the absurdity of having him negotiate 60 million euro bribes with the pan-European tobacco lobby.

The man can barely write and speak. Beyond a certain low cunning, he has the IQ of a banana. But what he has in common with John Dalli, beyond a natural propensity to criminal greed, is a village ignorance he has been unable to outgrow, rendering him completely unaware of boundaries.
