Jason for Leader

FOXX Muscat - I'll show him who's boss.

FOXX Muscat - I'll show him who's boss.

Wake up early to read all about it in The Malta Independent: Jason Micallef waits until the Leader is in China to announce his new political ambitions.

He’s standing for election in 2013. Yes, that’s right.

The chairman of Super One has electoral ambitions and he’s got the entire party media machine within his grip. He’s using it to undermine the Leader and promote his own agenda.

Now we know why.

I hate to say ‘I told you so’ but I did – last Thursday, in an article called Government by Super One.

I wish I could have told you this earlier, but my editor placed me under a strict embargo – no way was I going to be allowed to scoop the story.

Until 7am then (that’s you at the newsagent, not me on this blog).

Will they allow him to stay on at Super One?

If they do, they’re in for a lot of trouble with all the other candidates. Particularly if he does not reveal which district he wants to contest on. He’ll have the whole Corps Candidataire (!) against him!

Viewing this photo I cannot but think of rumours one hears about Saviour Balzan mentioning photos to Alfred Sant, and the person appearing in the photos going to Alfred Sant to explain… and also to his wife, lest she separates… and he (the person in the photo) ends up homeless, since he lives in HER house, which her contractor father built for her …

I mean: with such baggage, would anyone in his right senses want to contest elections?

[Daphne – Didn’t Robert Musumeci stand for election, while in the process of being rendered homeless after his wife found compromising emails from Magistrate Herrera? For a moment there I thought you were talking about him. Don’t forget that Jason and Robert are really cosy, thanks to Consuelo. Ghalihom xejn mhu xejn. Lives driven by sex and xenati – I wonder what in heaven’s name they’ll be doing at 60. I hope I’m around to see the even sadder show.]

By the way: Jason and Jose’ Herrera are two great friends. They (used to) spend many a night together in places their wives wouldn’t want to know about.

[Daphne – We know that they’re great friends. That’s why the chairman of Super One came to court dressed up to the nines with his keyring Ronnie Pellegrini to support Consuelo (u lanqas biss jisthi juri l-attegament tieghu). As for the rest, it might account for Herrera’s zeal in going round the bars and cafes of Valletta calling other men ‘pufta’.]

    Revenge of the nerd?

Former Labour general secretary Jason Micallef yesterday said he was made a scapegoat after last year’s general election even though there were four others in the strategy team, including his temporary successor Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi.

Mr Micallef told The Sunday Times: “I was upset that I got all the blame and he (Dr Zrinzo Azzopardi) got away scot-free. Can you tell me why he was never criticised?”

Speaking publicly for the first time since he was asked to step down from the post, Mr Micallef also said he was considering contesting the next general election.

  4. edgar gatt says:

No way is Jason going to ever forgive Joseph Muscat for humiliating him the way he did. Jason was reelected after the cock up in the last general elections by more than half the delegates, and that for me is a clear sign that he has a lot of support where it really counts. We are in for interesting times ahead.

    • La Redoute says:

It’s a clear sign of chicken-brained thinking. What else could you call voting for someone who led their party to electoral defeat?

    • maryanne says:

“No way is Jason going to ever forgive Joseph Muscat for humiliating him the way he did.”

You can also change the names to Joe Grima and Alfred Sant.

  5. Grezz says:

That’s the funniest bit of news I’ve read in some time. I wonder whether Jason Micallef is “working” on Marisa Micallef’s advice.

I suppose the “terrimot” Joseph Muscat promised his devout followers is the one happening beneath his feet right now.

  6. Stephen says:

In the third line of this October story Jason says pretty much the same thing:

The progression of the MLP from dumb to dumber has been sealed….bring on the chavvy white trews. Yuk.

    “f’ghoxx” Muscat

  10. Alan says:

If this fellow is elected, he will make Joseph Muscat’s life as miserable as he can, at every given opportunity.

What with the slime of the past coming out of the woodwork, the inept brain-washed and ‘hodor’ he has surrounded himself with, all of which he has no control over, this is yet another factor I’m keeping in mind about the ‘stability’ of the government if the LP win the next elections.

  11. Rover says:

No sooner does Joseph turn his back and shows the soles of his shoes to the Chinese Vice President that the knives are out. By no other than Jason Micallef, firmly in charge of the Labour media, a job handed to him on a plate by the incredibly inexperienced Joseph.

After Jason’s solid performance when he was re-elected General Secretary, Joseph did not have the bollocks to put him out to pasture and he gave him the chairmanship of Super One.

Indeed we shall witness many twists and turns in the next three years.

  12. Mario Dalli says:

Wow – simply amazing how Labour shoot themselves in the foot.

  13. Mario Dalli says:

They were gaining so much ground.

  14. Rita Camilleri says:

……. and let the show (or rather) the circus begin…

  15. red-nose says:

I think that Labour are banking on the myth that people are fed up with the PN administration. The PN has been in government for so long that it is impossible to consider such a long period without mistakes. But can one imagine a government with people with the present Labour mentality?

    • Aristocrat says:

The Socialists governed Sweden for how long?

The Socialist-Christian Democrat coalition governed Austria for how long?

  16. Dem-ON says:

I asked this before, and will ask it again now: is this a coup within the government in waiting?
So Jason comes out with this while the Leader is in China. Maybe Jason Micallef thinks he is Mr. Berlusconi, and can make it to premier riding on the media?

  17. Alan says:

The creator of the latest ‘news item’ over at the blackmail website needs to look up the meaning of sales and marketing.

  18. Camillo Bento says:

@rednose.The misfortune is that few people imagine it. History repeats itself like when in 1971 people wanted to “try” Mintoff and give him a shot. It happened in 1996 for if there were an election which the PN ought have won was that. Many people forget and many people ignore history. They are masochist enough to experiment with their and/or their children’s future. Such is life and that is why one believes in miracles.
