Others should follow his example
The chief executive officer of Malta Investment Management Company Limited (MIMCOL), Vincent Mifsud, resigned last week in protest at the company’s recruitment policies, on which he was not consulted and with which he does not agree.
His resignation – reported by Times of Malta – coincided with the furore about 18-year-old Karl Cutajar, nephew of Minister Cardona’s head of secretariat, Mario ‘Pardi Boutique’ Azzopardi.
This 18-year-old who left school at 15 with no O-levels was described by insiders as “the de facto CEO at MIMCOL”. This does not mean that he is a prodigy. It means that he is his uncle’s spy, fixer and enforcer.
How Third World. No wonder the real CEO found it unbearable.
Mifsud’s bio is still showing up on MIMCOL’s website. He has worked for MIMCOL for 11 years and was appointed CEO in 2010. There must have been some reason he wasn’t swept out in 2013, but then even he couldn’t take it.
