This website broke the story last November – and the government denied it
Times of Malta reports this morning that Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis and Air Malta chairman Maria Micallef are in Beijing for talks with the Chinese government “about the future of” the stricken national carrier, Air Malta.
This website broke the story back in November that Air Malta is to be sold to Air China. The story received massive attention and was shared on Facebook more than 5,000 times.
The Nationalist Party newspaper Il-Mument followed up the story the next day.
In the ensuing furore, Zammit Lewis issued a same-day categorical denial, dismissing the reports as “entirely unfounded and false”.
Ignoring the fact that this website had broken the story a day earlier, and focusing only on Il-Mument’s report, the Tourism Minister said:
“The Opposition has no credibility. If it continues down this road, it will become even more ridiculous.”
Who’s looking ridiculous now – and also a ruddy liar?
