In 2007, Mario Gennaro burned down a motorbike showroom in Italy to collect the insurance money. This is a serious crime under Maltese law. I am quite sure it is an equally serious crime under Italian law.

Yet not longer afterwards, Gennaro was able to get through Malta Gaming Authority scrutiny and ‘due diligence’.

Until this week when he was arrested under a European arrest warrant, Gennaro was the key official for one of the Malta-licensed internet gaming companies frozen in the ongoing Italian crackdown on ‘Ndrangheta money-laundering. The key official for the other company involved in the crackdown is Johnny Dalli’s henchman Iosif Galea, who hasn’t been arrested and extradited to Italy (yet). His father, Frans Galea, is chief of staff to the Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, Michael Farrugia.

Ed ancora nel verbale del 15.10.2007, riferiva: “GennaroMario aveva aperto la GM motor in Santa Caterina, ed aveva subito un danneggiamento mediante incendio: presso il magazzino-officina via era anche la mia moto CBR. In realtà si trattava di una truffa alle assicurazioni, l’incendio era stato provocato da Gennaro Mario”.
