Resignation/dismissal of Malta’s ambassador to Washington to be announced next week
Former Labour Party employee Marisa Micallef, who was appointed Malta’s ambassador to Washington by the incoming Labour government in 2013 – segueing smoothly from the party payroll to the state payroll like several other MLP employees – has been touring the United States while on forced ‘sick leave’ for the last two months.
Her resignation/dismissal from the post of ambassador is to be announced next week.
The twice married, twice divorced Ms Micallef’s first act on moving to Washington was, within a couple of days of her arrival in that city, to join an on-line ‘find a boyfriend’ agency for people who live there.
Ms Micallef is the second Taghna Lkoll, non-career-diplomat ambassador to bite the dust. Clifford Borg Marks resigned as ambassador to Beijing two months ago.
